As host of the radio show with Buzz, I'd like to ask him some questions from you. It's clear how passionate everyone is about Marquette basketball, plus Jim McIlvaine says he likes the site. I don't spend much time at any of the sites, but I realize that I must change. YOU are Marquette. If you aren't listening to the Buzz Show, then no one is. He's really good on the show-in my opinion. If I'm wrong, I'm guessing you will let me know. That's fine, I'm a man, I'm 40, I can take it. And I will be reading it, good or bad. So, I don't think I can mention the website on the show-crazy NCAA rule- but I will use some questions and Buzz likes the handles- so I'll mention them too.

Why does he not necessarily start the 5 players who see the most crucial minutes (i.e Juan over Jamil, Otule over Gardner)?

It seems that 2013 recruiting is over, so onto 2014, you lose Gardner next year, do you have an eye on any any big men to replace him, I know you can not mention names but
are you close with any and do you feel they will sign with MU?

In light of the Mant Te'o developments (where regardless of what happened, a college athlete was arguably too exposed to fans via social media) is there anything the MU BBall program is changing in how it advises its players to limit their social media use?

Congrats on another great year to date.  We really appreciate all you've done and do for the University, program and the players!

I'd like to hear him say he he happy at Marquette and isn't going anywhere for years, but I know that he probably doesn't want to say that...

So, what are his thoughts on a basketball focused conference?  Will it be marketed as grass roots urban, tough basketball?  The real deal or college basketball?

How does the new conference change his approach to scheduling and recruiting, if it does at all?

Buzz GREAT JOB and I hope you stay at MU for a long long time!!

Tough loss on Saturday night.  As bad as our offense was in the first half against Cincy, I think our defensive rebounding in the first half was ultimately our demise(10 offensive rebounds by Cincy in first half???).  Anyways, having said that, I have a question about our slow starts offensively to Big East games.

In 4 out of our 5 Big East games, we have scored significantly more points in the second half then we did in the first half.  (1st half/2nd half pts 13/50, 26/43, 33/24, 20/29, 30/39)  From an average fans perspective, our bench seems to have way more scoring punch then our starters.  I know its more about minutes played instead of who starts but I would like to know how do you go about deciding on who starts with this team in particular and are you considering some starting lineup changes in the near future to jump start the offense?

During the Pitt game Buzz said he did not talk about basketball in the time-outs.  Instead he talked about life, character revealed and what kind of person do you want to be.  Did he do that again in Cincy and is that what he often does in time-outs?  Or was the Pitt game an unusual situation?

Also, was Vander challenged to draw a charge in the Seton Hall game?  Is that why you and Buzz had such an immediate reaction to his first charge in 88 games?

+ 1 on this.  Does he feel his starting line-up struggles offensively too much early in the game and puts them in a hole?  Would that be corrected by starting more offensive punch (Mayo over Lockett or, Gardner of Otule or, Jamil over Juan)?

So far this year, MU has had a lot of really tight games.   You have said that is the way it is going to be this year.    To me, that means that coaching means more than ever, the ability to deny a couple of points or steal a couple of points a game.    So far this year, for which in-game decision would you like to have a do-over?  (TO vs Pitt, different zone offense against UWGB, going to Disney instead of Gainesville)    Which one do you think worked well? (face-guarding Kilpatrick, slowing it down against UConn)

The team has been outstanding in conference play at two point percentage defense (#2 in conference) and defensive rebounding (#2 in conference), but has been poor at three point percentage defense (#14) and in allowing opponents to take three point shots (defensive 3PA/FGA is #14).

Considering the importance of effective field goal percentage, how is the team working to improve the perimeter defense, or is that just part of the tradeoff from focusing on two point defense and defensive rebounding?

Thanks Homer

Rob from Cracked Sidewalks

PS - don't let Buzz play coy about effective field goal percentage. We all know that he is completely familiar with that stat.

We have argued about the value of rankings.  Some say it does not matter do long as you make the Tourney.  Others say that little number next to your name brings more attention to the program (eg, highlights on SportsCenter) and helps in recruiting and University fund raising.  What say you?

I've seen Buzz, Wainright, Autry and Reynolds run the team pow-wow during timeouts.  Do they get their numbers called vs specific opponents?  Or do they have different specialties based on in-game situations?

Coach,
MU continues to struggle mightily against zones.   Would it be effective to station Davante at the free throw line, get him the ball and allow him to act as the old fashion pivot man.  He could hit cutters, pass to the wings, dump it to Wilson in the low post, shoot the free throw jumper or on occasion even drive on the center.  I realize he is also effective in the low post but as a change of pace.  What do you think.

For Buzz:  What is Chris Otule thinking in terms of playing next year?  Should we be expecting him back?

Probably a good thing....as another pserson posted last night, don't need to attract knuckleheads to this board from other sites due to the additional attention.

Was PM'ing with Homer (we're from same home town).  Seems like he enjoyed the questions and plans to be more of a regular on Scoop.  His participation would be a fun addition to the board.

On the surface, seems odd that the NCAA would have a rule preventing a radio personality referencing an internet posting board.

Must be more too it.  Does anyone know the specifics on why the NCAA cares?

Why not skip Homer entirely and just ax Buzz to sign up on Scoop and he can shoot the sheet with all of us daily. You know, just be a regular guy.

Because he'd get in an inane argument with Kenosha or temdee and not have time to prepare for our next game.

Dont forget TeamOh, Billybob, SMU17 and the various interations of Forgiven, Unforgiven, et al.

I wonder if Buzz can put his answers next week into Haikus?  ;D

On the surface, seems odd that the NCAA would have a rule preventing a radio personality referencing an internet posting board.

Does it really?

Must be more too it.  Does anyone know the specifics on why the NCAA cares?

Money of course.

Homer

With reports of Rick Barnes dismissal following this season have Buzz and Corey retained a professional realtor in Austin to find their dream home in the Hill Country?
