Birthplaces doesn't necessarily mean where they played HS though.

But this underlines what I have always thought about Indiana high school basketball.  The coaching is *extremely* good here, and frankly they make players look better than they actually are.  IOW, they have lower ceilings.  And you don't get to the NBA as a low ceiling guy.

Highschool:  IL- 243 to IN- 153

Interesting interpretation about the coaching and the ceilings, could explain a lot.

Yeah, I know it's shocking to want the 19th rated national player in the program.  I mean, what could he possibly offer.

Why weren't any big-name schools in on Dekker? Looks like his offers were from Wisco and a handful of mid-majors. Did the big boys know he was a Badger all the way?

Small school...late bloomer...didn't play AAU until later in his high school career.  Verballed to UW almost immediately after they offered.

I would absolutely love to have someone with his skill set at MU.

Thanks....signed the girls coach at Arlington....  :)
Also keep in mind the population difference between Indiana and Illinois.. Illinois is roughly twice the size

ChicosBailBonds

Population needs to be figured in here.  Indiana leading Illinois with half the population is saying something.

Maybe I am biased, but I see Bo as a lazy recruiter. He seems to go after players that are not on anybody else's radar and if he misses on them he goes the preferred walk on route. He gets away with it, because he is good at developing players and gets a significant amount of them to redshirt for the extra year of development. I do think he is good at identifying players he believes he can improve.

Maybe, but he certainly has landed his share of good players over the years....those that fit his system mixed with glue guys that aren't top 100 players but know their role.  Hard to argue with the results...they have been better than ours the last 15 years (both programs have done well in that time period).

Koenig, Dekker, Krabbenhoft, Anderson, Leuer, Bohannon, Hughes, Stiemsma, Berggren, Vander Blue, etc were all top 100 RSCI players.

Then distribution to, I mean Hammond and East Chicago are considered Chicagoland area.

The uber-athletic, run-and-gun type of players aren't going to come to Wisconsin and Bo knows that. He also knows that for many, many, many HS players in the state of Wisconsin, playing for the Badgers would be a dream come true. He doesn't need to spend a lot of time scouring gyms in Florida or Texas or California for talent. He has a very strong recruiting base for his system all around him.

We R Final Four

Agreed.

It is easier to teach the flop to those from Port Wahington, Wisconsin Dells, and Phillips than those from Milwaukee, Madison, and Racine.  ;)

Well, he's pursuing Looney like no other.

It's funny how so often people get off the subject.  This topic is about Wisconsin high school basketball players... not Illinois or Indiana!
