Exactly.

Kansas has a gaping hole in the "dominant big man" role starting next year, and with no more on the board prior to yesterday, Christmas just came early for KU... look for them to go hard after Dakari.

Even if KU doesn't get Dakari Johnson, how hard they go after him may tell Embiid all he needs to know about where he stands with Kansas.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

He is expected to be ranked in top 50 in the next recruiting rankings.

I'm a skeptic by nature, but I can't help but wonder how someone could start playing two years ago, and be in the top 50 already. He's either a freak or he's getting pumped up like Darko Milicic (or Brett Roseboro; just kididng to make a point).

Again, what do I know? Not much.

Hakeem Olajuwan.    Not saying that Embiid ends up that good, but he is an athletic 7 ft who played many other sports before turning to basketball.    So, if he has good footwork and eye-hand coordination, along with a work ethic, why can't he play basketball at a high level in only 2 years?

Darko Milicic wasn't ready to be a pro, but I'm guessing that he would have been an outstanding college player, especially if he stuck around for a second season of college ball and especially if he had good coaching.

Apparently this guy who follows UVA pretty closely is under the impression that Embiid will announce this week. From the rumors floated about on twitter by KU fans it sounded like he would cut the list to KU, FL, and MU this week, and make a final decision next week.

Quick recruiting update - big men Shuyler Rimmer and Joel Embiid set to announce this week. Both significant targets for the staff.

I've not seen Embiid play, but I can't help but think it is either quite presumptuous of Mbah a Mboute to expect that someone who has only been playing to just over two years will be given immediate playing time at an upper level school. How many guys with just two years' experience are really ready to contribute--as an all-around player on both offense and defense--on a team that has hopes for a deep run in the tourney.

Maybe he's just that good, despite his inexperience, but it strikes me as rather brash.

If he's that good, get him here! If he's inexperienced, I hope he'll be ready to put in time learning, being ready for future years.

How about Hasheem Thabeet. I seem to recall him not starting to play basketball until he was 15.

I'd imagine most of you on here have seen this already, but a 6'11" big man with a vertical like that is pretty impressive no matter how long he's been playing. And if he's able to do this after only one year, then I can only see his stock going higher and higher.

Exactly the comparison I would make.  Very coordinated and athletic.  Very quick spins with and without the ball.

FYI .... Scout's Evan Daniels is reporting that Embiid will announce his decision next week, but first cut two from his final five and meet with the other three.
