Heading up to my M-I-L's in Door Co. for Memorial Day Weekend.  We'll go out night trolling for Walleye and/or brown trout.  This is my 29 inch Walleye from that weekend 3 years ago.  We got 4 total Walleye, between 26-29, and my son pulled in a 32" brownie.    Fun stuff.

(and yes, that's an MU sweatshirt I'm wearing)

Nice Catch!  Wish we had some Walleye that size in our lake..  :-\

Here is a gator of a Northern Pike my best friend caught this winter on the Mississippi.  I seem to catch more buzzes than fish though.

Heading up to Bowstring/Sand Lakes, northern Minnesota in the Chippewa National Forest, tomorrow morning for a week.  Hopefully I will have better luck than I did over Memorial Day weekend.

Just south of Lake Pepin and yes on a tip up.   The ice was fine when you got off of the main channel.

Fished Browns lake in Racine Co. was told it was a great bass lake.
drifted over weed beds in 8-14 feet of water with Rat-L-Traps and Spinners. Didn't catch any bass (I did lose a pretty impressive one), but did knock down 8 20-some inch northerns. Chased off the water by skiers by 11.

Half of my buddies either make lures or leaders.  Except for Joe Bucher, no one is getting rich on it.

I did want to throw this out there, since this is a fishing thread.  A friend of mine is the world's greatest at repairing reels.  I mean that.  Everyone knows someone who's good... this guy blows them all away.  I highly, highly recommend.  You can mail your reels, or drop them off (he's in N. Illinois, about an hour from MKE.)  He just cleaned and repaired my reels, including a circa early/mid 80s 6500.  It's better than new.  Just don't drop them off and expect them to be ready this weekend.  He cleans/repairs over 1000 reels a year.  Drop em off in winter and get them ready for spring.

footnote:  The business was started by Dave in 1967.  He's now retired.  His son, Mark now runs the business.  He has some experience too.  He's been doing this since 1981.

Article on how the St. Louis river is doing after the big floods in Duluth this summer.

The guy in the article fished the river 300+ days last year.

Stopped by the Bait Box today in Superior.  According to the locals, lots of hawg wallys being taken in the harbor...after the floods.  Locals are seriously worried that, due to these very unique circumstances, too many Illineasean types are taking big spawners for trophys.

Went fishing yesterday with a group of guys called the Muske Nutz.  About 16 guys (actually 14 guys & 2 girls) fished from 7am until 5pm on Butternut Lake in Park Falls, WI.  Although storms threatened at the start, and again just before lunch, the weather was hot and sunny.  Water temps started at 77 degrees, and ended the day at 84, not exactly ideal muskie weather.  Only one muskie was caught, a 35 incher.  Plans were to meet for lunch at 12 noon, so at 11:45 one of the guys told his partner he had to stop at the outhouse at the boat launch to make room.  While he did his business, his partner casted from the boat launch.  Muskie fishing being what it is, that was when he caught the only fish of the day.
The Muske Nutz get together one day each year to raise money for a good cause.  This year several hundred dollars were raised for Juvenile Diabetes.
