I hear Wojo took the team ice fishing last Sunday.

Carlino, Fischer, Duwill caught limits.  Derrick got skunked, as he was busy baiting everyone else's hook the whole time.  Man, that Derrick is a bad fisherman.

Rented an Ice Castle last weekend.  Very nice. Satellite dish, rattle wheels, oven and stove.  Hooked up a generator, life was good.   Had lots of fun when we hooked up the Marcum color camera to the 32 inch LCD tv.

Crappies and northerns.  And crown.

Nice!  We plan to also offer rentals in the Madison area for the Portable Ice Shacks.  We recently added a vent that is easy to open, and flush with the rest of the building.

can anyone show me how to embed youtube videos here.

Let's say you want to embed the video on this page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbZuBDJVHEI

Below the video player, click "Share" and then "Embed."

A line of code pops up.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wbZuBDJVHEI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Copy this code.

Now come back to Scoop, open a "post" window (like the one I'm typing in right now), and click the flash icon (it's the pink circular one on the left side right above the first smiley face), and the following will appear in your text:

[ flash=200,200][ /flash]
(note that I'm putting a space after the opening brackets; this is so the actual code appears.  Don't insert this space when embedding yourself)

Paste the embed link between the inner brackets as so:

[ flash=200,200]<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wbZuBDJVHEI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>[ /flash]

Change the 200,200 to the width and height listed in the embed link and delete everything between the inner brackets except for the actual URL (delete the quotations around the URL too).  It should then look like this:

[ flash=420,315]https://www.youtube.com/embed/wbZuBDJVHEI[ /flash]

Now comes the tricky part, in the middle of the link, remove "embed" and replace with a singular "e," as follows:

[ flash=420,315]https://www.youtube.com/e/wbZuBDJVHEI[ /flash]

Hit "Post" and now you can say:

https://www.youtube.com/e/wbZuBDJVHEI

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Sir Lawrence

An interesting little dust up regarding "tying up" fish and keeping them under the ice for promotions:

FYI, Madison Fishing Expo is this weekend.  Good seminars on Wisconsin river fishing, area lakes, spring wallys, etc.

Going out on the St. Croix after the game. Last chance for walleye for 60 days. Fishing below the Hudson bridge, down stream, off the eddy from the power plant.  Never know what you'll get on the river. Mooneyes, huge cats, smallies....

Ice is OUT up north.  Gonna take a crack at some crappies next weekend.

Going to cast small crappie jigs with chartreuse tube in the shallows.  What's your favorite technique for this time of year?

WellsstreetWanderer

Checked out our lake in So Cal and some bass have already spawned but many still in shallows.  I use something like a Wooly Bugger to cast into the shore and make them mad enough to pick it up. Two weeks ago we caught fish on wacky worms and other plastics as they were staging to go into the shallows. Pretty soon I will be able to entice them on top with my fly rod using poppers.
Will be a pretty bad year for Sierra trout streams with no snowpack. Last year one of my favorite rivers was reduced to a trickle. Pretty depressing.
Many of us stayed away from the high altitude streams where the Golden Trout reside because they are so stressed and vulnerable.

Benny B

Taking the boy to the neighborhood pond today for the first casts of the year.  Cast and reel w/ jig and simple worm seems to do the trick.

Online licensing has got to be one of the Internet's greatest creations... fifteen extra minutes of fishing today.

The greatest joy in fishing is to introduce someone to the sport. When it a youngster it is especially rewarding. My grandson just turned three and we are planning his first outing.

Going to a new lake this year in Ontario. Darren and Merri's Cedar Lake Camp.  Supposedly trophy muskies.

Just south of Lac Seul off of 105. Anyone been there?

Up north today.  Stopped off at Marine General for my favorite northern lure, Williams Whitefish spoons.  Straight silver finish.  Killer on Nords.  Only place in the Midwest that sells the large size.

Bait box was next on hwy 53.  Nestled up next to the big freighters on Lake Superior.  Understated ambience is suttle and imposing.

Tossed crappie minnows all afternoon in 72 degree warmth.  Didn't catch sh1t. Didn't care.

Took my grandsons out this past weekend. Netted some bait fish next to the support girders of the Sanibel bridge, then caught a few redfish in the pass between Captiva and N. Captiva islands.

Grandsons fed the rest of the bait fish to a couple of dolphins, and watched the manatees swim by. Weather is great, and so is the fishing. Life is good. Feel free to stop by sometime.

The walleyes and white bass are plentiful on Winnebago. Caught over 100 white bass and 20 walleyes last weekend. Limited out again yesterday pretty fast! Now time to get the Lake Michigan rig ready!

mr.MUskie

Opening weekend in the Wisconsin Northwoods.  Six guys, limits of walleyes both days, a muskie on the river, a triple header of a 21 and 2 20 inch smallmouth, with a few crappie and northerns thrown in for good measure. Great weather until a heavy storm hit Sunday evening, saw very few fishermen out.

real chili 83

You did better than us. A couple of snakes. Period.  Water still cold.

Heading up this weekend. Expect to do better with this warmer week.

We had 60 ℉ water temps.

The lake we fished Sunday had a slot limit. We had to throw back a bunch of 14-18 inch wallys.

real chili 83

That's a perfect temp.

You must be in the ceded territory like us.  We get three fish, nothing under 18.  Dang nakie americans.

Last year, we had ice. Go figure.

Is it true that spearing is limited to the time before the opener only?
