Marquette head coach Buzz Williams got some great news this afternoon when four-star junior point guard Duane Wilson Jr. (Milwaukee, Wis./Dominican) committed to the Golden Eagles over Memphis and Missouri.

Wilson is a great local addition and will be counted on to contribute right away once he gets on campus, which he is very capable of doing.

The 6-foot-3 floor general can excel off the ball because of his ability to score with range to the arc, has an excellent basketball IQ, can control tempo and is an excellent decision maker. Wilson is also a great fit for the Golden Eagles' style of play because he can lead the break, run the show in the half-court set and score when needed.

Wilson joins another local product in the Class of 2013, small Forward Deonte Burton (Milwaukee, Wis./Vincent), who is a strong and athletic wing.

Recruitng is all good on the home front for Williams and his staff.

+1... Shut down the private jet for a while and spend the money putting up some satellite offices next to Hamilton and Dominican.

We're putting a fence around MIL TOWN baby!!!!

Great news! If Nunn can be worked in some how it can't hurt to have multiple guys who can handle the ball.  Wilson would just about qualify as a 2 guard in Buzz's typical lineups with his switchables (and he could still grow a bit before he gets here) so getting Nunn isn't a crazy thought.  The question is, will there be any room for Nunn if he wants to come here too?

I'll take a good player from any where but it's nice to see Buzz signing great players in the Midwest too.

I said a long time ago we needed to get all the local studs ad we can NC. We have too many local players and cannot afford to let the best get away. Looney and Stone will be nice additions...i am still hoping for Tokoto to pull a Jamil and come home in a year. Ton of tale in the inner city and I suggest everyone that wants these kds to go watch them play.

Looney and Stone are must gets, addition of Wilson helps with Stone
and Brandon Keyto top it off

2015 recruit who just finished his freshman year on varsity for the very successful West Allis Central team this year...I believe he is ranked something like the 6th best freshman in the state as of now by wissports.net and Mark Miller.

Ron Paul

I'm seriously pumped about this signing.  Great to see Milwaukee kids staying here to play.  Not only that but with he and Burton playing together on playground elite and the summer leagues these kids will have chemistry day one.

It is a commitment, not a signing.

Indeed, always something to remember.

Regarding key...the sixth best frosh in the *state?*  Long way to go before we assume he's high D1 material.

I think the commitments we have from these two will be kept...Who has de-committed with Buzz as coach? I can't think of any off the top of my head. The bonds he forms with these guys are so tight, look at what Duane said about him yesterday. These guys love Buzz, if Buzz left I have always wondered who would still be on this team. Benford would have to be his replacement to keep kids in the program.

Does Tyshawn really count? Wasn't that more related to the coaching change itself? Aaron Bowen I forgot about, he made zero contributions to Gtown this year though, so I am not too bitter.

I only mentioned his name as he was the only one who decommitted.  I believe part of the reason was that Layer left and that was the one who got the commitment.

My senior year of HS, I played on a pretty good varsity team (I'm a big deal) with a 6'3" freshman starting at shooting guard who everyone locally was expecting to be in the NBA some day. He was a good kid and a really talented player who ended up getting a scholarship to play at a D3 school (where he did very well). Playing college basketball and going to school for free is quite an accomplishment but let's hold off on annointing Key as the missing piece for Marquette until he plays a couple more years.

D3 cannot give out athletic scholarships.  Some schools find ways to get "academic" scholarships to some athletes, but they do not have athletic ones to give.

Bowen isn't even listed on Georgetown's roster (at least not on espn.com).  What happened to him?

Really? I didn't know that. Maybe he got the "academic" variety. I just know he played ball at a D3 school. Thanks for the info.
