Packers 2012 Offseason
« on: March 05, 2012, 08:32:20 PM »
Hope TT is gonna be smart enough to make a run at Mario Williams for opposite side Matthews.   Probably gonna hope a pup 1st rounder is gonna be a stud right away at OLB.   Needs to use FA too many holes on D.   Unwise to have a rigid philosophy on anything.

Rodgers, Matthews, Raji, Jennings and Finley will all need new contracts soon.  How do you fit Williams into that cap?

I hope TT is smart with FA.  I would like to see him use it, but not sure breaking the bank for a upper tier player is the right play.

7 mil need to clear about 6 more mil.    Restructure some contracts....hello AJ Hawk.  Cut Driver and Clifton.

And just for future discourse I don't think Jennings should be a priority.   McCarthy's system with Aaron Rodgers will thrive with Jordy Nelson types.  Jennings should be expendable.  That outside the box thinking will scare some though and TT would have to have brass balls.

Come on Stone Cold this is the Packers we're talking about

Build through the draft, build through the draft, build through the draft ad infinitum

The only high profile guys the Packers have really EVER signed were Woodson and Reggie

+1 and a lot of people had already given up on Woodson and said his career was over.

No way do they even pursue Mario Williams.

Jennings expendable?  No.  Driver, yes.

Why would Tim Tebow make a run at Mario Williams?

I thought the Packers really started to sputter without Jennings last year. Maybe Jennings could be allowed to walk, but I dont think a Jordy Nelson type could ever replace the way he stretches the field and commands respect from defenses.
