They have the worst media player on their website.

MattyWarrior

Thanks! That really made me laugh.

TallTitan34

Ahahaha he dips mid interview!  Awesome!

mu_hilltopper

Damn, that was awesome.

You can kinda tell Huggins likes Buzz in a genuine way.  .. I'd rather play against a coach who likes our coach than one who hates him, so that's a positive.

It appears that Buzz was sporting a European man clutch, did Gonzalez get that for him.

TallTitan34

Is that Raftery over Buzz's shoulder with Broeker and Leonard?

Gotta love Buzz and Huggy, the man-purse is a little shaky but throwing in a dip on the WVU show has to endear him to fans there....he has said Brey is his COY every year so he stroked Huggy for the show for sure

The big 12 does not have to compete with professional sports on a scale that the Big East Schools do. I live within 40 miles of Nova, Rutgers, Seton Hall and St. Johns. They are in competition with the Eagles, Giants, Jets, 76ers, Nets, Knicks, Phillies, Yankees, Mets, Devils, Flyers, Rangers and Islanders. MU is doing just fine. The following for our basketball program is a passion. We would not draw what we do with our "small" demographic" if it were not.

OKC Thunder, KC Chiefs, Royals, Cardinals, Rams, Blues, Cowboys, Rangers, Astros, Mavericks, Stars.

I don't really see the difference. There's pro sports teams in the markets for every major college conference.

Definitely was Raftery.

I really have a new found respect/admiration for Huggins.  It all started with his Cincy days.  In the four years I was @ MU (95-99), we didn't lose to those highly ranked Bearcat teams.  I distinctly remember two consecutive years where following a defeat, Huggins would have his team sit on the bus outside the BC, while he went across the street to drink beers @ Turner's with the MU crew (and Mike Deane...shocker, I know).

I don't really dig the man purse... but have a new found respect for Huggins, seems like a nice guy.

Really jacked for the game tonight, wish there were more friday night games!

Are they all within a 50 mile radius of campus. Here they are for all the schools I listed. Big Difference!

really a stretch there....most Big east teams are competing directly with a professional basketball and hockey team in the same market if not stadium.

The issue is people deciding what and how many games to attend a year/month/week.   People in Lawrence, stillwater, ames, etc. etc. are really not making those same decisions.

While we don't have a Jerome, he'll jave a lot of J names to choose from.

I don't think it has to do with the competion from professional sports.  The Big 12 is all large state schools, so when 15% of the undergraduates show up the fill up the joint.  when 15% show up for a Big East game the arena looks half full.

Also, some Big East teams play more games at professional arenas such as the BC, Comcast, The Garden, Carrier Dome.  The larger capacity leaves many open seats.  Marquette averages 15,000 per game (I know alot of those can be empty) which would sell out all but one or two B12 arenas.

It is just a different demographic and we should not feel bad about it.

Huggy Bear is like that with many coaches.  He and Deane would have some legendary drinking engagements after games.  Buzz is great.

The Attendance Issue did come up.  Both coaches noticed it.  Forget this stuff about how far away everything is, they were focusing on the students and that has been one of the bitch sessions here.  Our students need to do a better job.

Huggins said:  "Don't you agree, though, there is a better home court advantage in the Big 12 than the Big East?"  mumbling  "The students show up in droves"

Buzz:  "Yes, definitely.  It's a different deal, particularly the students"   "Student section is unbelievable"

They notice.  We are kidding ourselves if they don't notice.  It's part of their craft, of course they are going to notice the support they get in the building.  Another84 can throw stats up that says 3,500 student tickets were sold but it matters who shows up.
