Sometimes, you just need to be with the right coach in the right situation.   

Steve Kerr is the perfect example. He couldn't get off the bench for an expansion team in Orlando then signed with the Bulls and went on to be a key part of 5 championship teams (4 in Chicago, 1 in SA).
