Pitt lost last night to USF.

Started the BE 0 -7 then went 4 - 0.  Now 4 - 8.

I think last night's lost might have been devastating for them.  They could now string together another series of losses.

It was devastating. They're done unless they win the BE tourney, which is a very remote possibility.

Pitt was horrible last night, particularly Ashton Gibbs has been a big disappointment for them, there bigs are not coordinated at all.  I will say this, that South
Florida at home is really good.  Have size and play great D.  MU beat them easily here but if you play there style of ball, hard to beat.  Much like Wisky and
Notre Dame.  Is Mike Brey the coach of the year?  They will finish 2nd in the Big East.

I think so. They need to go 5-1, just to finish at 9-9. Pitt has road games coming up at Seton Hall, Louisville and UConn. When you start 0-7, you have no margin for error.

I don't see a 8-10 league record cutting it, unless they make a huge run in the Big East Tournament. At least to the semi-finals, which would equal 3 wins. (I'm assuming that Pitt will not have a bye.)

CTWarrior

Not quite done, they still have one life line left.  But that one really hurt.

Probably.  I think they have to get to 9-9 to have a chance barring a miracle run in the BEAST tourney.  Even with the USF loss, that means they will have gone 9-2 in the Big East once Woodall returned.  I think that may be enough in a down year, as their RPI is still pretty good, all things considered.  They will have a really tough time going 5-1 down the stretch, though, as they still have games @ UCONN, Louisville and Seton Hall, and a home game against WVU.

RJax55

If Pitt does finish 8-10 (which I think is most likely), who they get in the Big East Tournament will be critical.

A second round game against a fellow bubble team like Seton Hall or UConn, would be better for them than a game against South Florida. I think they would need to beat one of the other Big East bubble teams and a team that is a solid tournament lock.

Montana Warrior

This year, Pitt is in the lower echelon of the BE.  In the ACC, they might just be mediocre or a little better.  Now they can be mediocre in BB and FB.  Enjoy the cash.  Pitt, it was nice to know ya!

No they're done, except for the tourney.

You can stick a fork in 'em now.

Most likely, yes. Unless they win out in Big East play, and then make a run to the Big East Championship. If they don't make the tourney, I could see them winning the NIT. Pitt is still a very good team.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Didn't Pitt play and lose to Seton Hall today?  I thought Providence played USF last night.

Anyway, the gist of the thread is correct.  It will take a miracle for them to make the tourney in my opinion.
