I've been watching UConn since Calhoun got here in the 80s.  The guy is an all-world recruiter.  After the early years when he struggled with MU-like issues (no talented size), he has always relied on 3 things.

1.  Long, strong, athletic big men to lock down the paint on defense and catch and dunk on offense.  (It's actually embarrassing that none of his big men, including Emeka Ofakor, a phenomenal talent, ever developed even a rudimentary post game.  I can't understand why he keeps getting them.  Trust me, the big guys at UConn that go to the NBA would go regardless of who their college coach was.  I will grant that he does teach good defense fundamentals to his big people and instills a real work ethic.)
2.  A "coach on the floor" type point guard who keeps the offense flowing and gets the ball where it needs to be when it needs to be there.  This is important because UConn doesn't run a discernable offense and relies on the one-on-one abilities of their PG and wings to break down the defense.
3.  A wing man who can score.

Oriakhi and Drummond are typical UConn big men with physical gifts and a good motor.  They are both the same guy, though and do not complement each other yet.  Lamb is the wing scorer and is a good one.  Boatright is going to end up being the QB a team that runs no semblance of planned offense needs.  He's a freshman that's had a lot of elibility issues and hasn't had a ton of floor time yet.  Napier is a shoot first PG who is better suited to be the energy guy off the bench.

UConn will eventually put it all together and be a very dangerous team.  It depends on when the light goes on for Boatwright.  Let's hope it happens some time after Feb 18.
