I might need psychological therapy if he's out more than a few games.  Hopefully it's nothing.

Hate to see another big man get hurt.  Hoping for the best for him.

But playing a Seton Hall team that came out of the gates hot and has cooled off since...Jamil and Juan, may be your time to shine.  If Ox is limited, maybe a blessing in disguise for Juan.  Some more minutes and experience.

If he can't go tomorrow at least he'd be able to absolutely avoid Herb Pope and his obsession with jelly beans...

Gulp.  Me too.  Agreed, hopefully it's something precautionary, like Wes' walking boot a few years ago.

It seems that college basketball (NCAA?) should disclose this injuries in a timely manner.  Otherwise bettors can get "inside information" about who might not be playing.

This is why the NFL, NBA, MLB etc.  have an injury report.

And yes, college basketball betting is a huge business which is why we see point shaving scandals every couple of years.  The NCAA cannot pretend betting does not exist, that makes it worse.

YUP.  We'll need some big minutes from Juan, and possibly Jamail.

After Pope, Seton Hall is short on quality big men, so this is as good a time as any for this to happen.  Got to have DG for ND on the weekend, though.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

From what I heard he has no boot on, just the crutches. My friend said it seemed like he could walk, but was doing so gingerly.

Why would he have a boot on?

I also heard he did not have a cast on his arm.

Well, that's cause it's a knee injury.  Boots are for ankles and feet.

The fact that he can walk on it is good, but doesn't really mean anything.  He could have torn his ACL and be walking on it.

I heard he's not wearing a neck brace, either.

I will probably get in trouble for posting this, but IWB says that it is hyperextended.

If it caused no damage then he would be able to play as soon as he is capable of playing, which means yeah likely a couple weeks but who knows.

This stretch already worried me without Otule, but without Gardner as well this could be brutal. We need him back soon. We face Pope, Drummond, Oriakhi, and Gates in the coming weeks. Not a good time to be without our two bigs. Hopefully hell be back soon.

I wouldn't worry about anything until tomorrow when the team takes the court. Gardner could be on crutches for precaution for all we know. I can remember seeing Blankson during the '00/'01 season on crutches a couple days before a game, but he was still played the next game.

Hyperextended is what it looked like on TV.  Although, I'm still waiting for my mail-order TV-MD from ESPN University Medical School.

That's Eastern Spain - Port Nouvelle Universidad by the way.. think of it as a European University of Maryland - Eastern Shore.  It's a D-tres school with D-uno football and bullfighting teams.  Although, the latter hasn't yet made the jump to the Bull Subdivision - still waiting to see what conference alignment brings... the Conferencio Grande Diez, incidentally, has something like veintisiete teams, and rumor has it that even Looeyville has been extended an invite because the presidente saw a tape of Pitino in his white suit and thinks he and the Dos Equis guy are the same person.

Shall we digress further?
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

In my mind he's always on crutches, even in the team photo.  One of the most surprising memories of my MU watching years is still senior day when he actually played and drained all those threes like he was the second coming of Steve Novak.

I remember being in the upper deck for that game yelling down at the court like Statler and Waldorf why he never fired from long range before.  Fun night. ;D

the first time he rose up against Pitt, fired, and nailed the 3... talk about experiencing all human emotions in the span of 1 second

the way the BC erupted on those 2 threes will be forever ingrained in my memory... (hence the profile name  ;D )

...on another note, just peeked at the box score of that game, Cubi scored 20 pts on 4-7 shooting (all threes) and 8-8 FT... wow.

and revisiting some of the names on those Pitt teams that my selective memory had so keenly erased previously, just made me throw up a little in my mouth... Ronald Ramon... LeVon Kendall...  barf

The only game where the (now) wife and I had to sit in the student section 400s.   Like many others, that memory of Kinsella from downtown will live on forever.  Even my wife, the IU grad, calls that one of her best basketball memories.
