The Gtown loss at Pitt is another example of why the win at Nova is a good one.

Both MU and Gtown played a lesser team on the road, but a lesser team that was hot.  MU came through and Gtown didn't, so at least for the day we are in 2nd place in the BEAST and would only be a half game out of 1st place but for a missed goal tend call!

Feel good about these next four games - but it will get tough to stay up there down the stretch starting at UConn.  still this could be fun1

Pitt is going to win plenty of games down the stretch now that they have their point guard back.  I'm glad MU has them in the rear view mirror.

Or we could have just held on against Georgetown.  Just keep winning...

This team just needs to take care of business and not worry about anything else. These slow starts are tough to watch, but they have confidence and they know they can overcome them. 9 games left until the real fun begins.

Now cincy down 10 @rutgers with 4 minutes left.  Everything is coming up milhouse right now.

This week Depaul wins at Rutgers and Cincy loses at Rutgers.

Any of this make sense?

Sure, the Big East flat-out stinks this year.

tower912

No, the PAC 12 stinks this year.    The BEast lacks a second dominant team, but has a lot of teams that can do damage.

By stinks do you mean has gone from a 3-year run as the best conference to the third best conference this year?  Who besides the Big Ten and Big 12 are better than the Big East this year, and did you know there are 32 Division 1 conferences meaning that by your logic 30 of 32 conferences stink?

While this post does show little knowledge of college basketball, at least it wasn't a completely classless post like your other one today.

parity is not to be confused with weakness

you have St.Johns who is in the bottom 4 of the BEast, yet in its last two games has beaten WVU by 16 and lost @Duke by just 7

you have Rutgers, who can beat Florida and UConn, yet still lose to DePaul

there are a lot of GOOD teams in this conference, just not many GREAT ones.  I think that MU is showing that this conference is us and Syracuse, and then everyone else

There are a couple of teams that have already won more games than last year. Last year DePaul finished with 7 wins for the season. I agree there are not as strong of teams on the top, but there are not any give me games either. As far as MU being above the other teams, it is too early to be saying that. We finished the easy half of our schedule. The tough half is coming

MU has exceded my expectations this season, but there are no gimmes this year. The loss that really hurt was at G'town.

that sums it up pretty well.  No game seems impossible this year - like the game at Pitt and some others were last year - but certainly no game on the road is easy in the whole conference this year.  While no game is a true gimme, i would say the schedule had 4 home games that would have been major let downs to lose - USF, Nova, St. johns, with Rutgers still to go, which is why I was pretty disappointed with the 4 point win in the Bradley Center against Nova, but happy today.

the G'Town loss definitely hurt, but I think that even though we lost, you could take away from the game that we were the superior team, and handed them that game

I know we lost, but I think from an interpretation standpoint, it's easier to look at the gap in ability if you draw up the standings with MU winning that game... they would look like this

Cuse (9-1)
MU (8-1)
ND (5-3)
USF (5-3)
UConn (4-3)
GTown (5-4)
Louisville (5-4)
WVU (5-4)
Cinci (5-4)

I think this is relatively illustrative of the talent gap, and that MU and Cuse are on an island

I don't see any BE team getting past the sweet sixteen.  And I wouldn't be surprised if none even make it that far.

This is adorable.
