I'm going to say 14.  3 straight undefeated weeks will get us noticed.

16 AP / 15 coaches.

At least people aren't "forgetting" to put MU on their ballots anymore, right...?
Relax. Respect the Process.

14.  We'll pass Miss State in coaches, and in both we'll pass Indiana, SDSU, and Georgetown.

On another poll note, I believe Bracketbusters are announced Monday.  I would drool over a St. Mary's / Murray State matchup.

#13 San Diego State just lost too.

MU at #14, I agree.

The "down by 17 (or whatever) to close the game" will convince voters that this team - regardless if it was Nova - is talented and gritty to be a top 15 team...since they almost did it to Cuse.

i agree #14, though I'm not sure if they will put us in front of Gtown since they beat us.

But clearly we pass Indiana (yeah at WI is tough, but we did it), Miss St and SD State.

Not only was Gtown blown out today, but there last game was a 2-point home win against Rutgers.  I do wonder if some voters go "head-to-head" if teams are close, but the fact that they beat us by 3 at home is probably a 5 point win for us at the Bradley Center, so I think we nudge them.

Looks like our last chance to get to 13th is if Air Force can pull an upset at home vs. UNLV tonight.  Unlikely - 10-point underdog on pomeroy, but I'll hope for that.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

UNLV needed overtime to survive Air Force, but survive it they did.

My prediction is #15 AP / #14 Coaches. The question will be how far the Pitt loss drops Georgetown. I think getting 2 Big East wins this week and GT losing their only game will allow us to slip past them.

Agreed. 14-15.

What I really want, is to be a at least a 4 seed, so we are a favorite until the Elite 8. For that to happen I think we need to be ranked 15 or better. I know ranking and seeding aren't directly linked, but that would be a good indicator.

We would not be the favorite in the Sweet Sixteen (if everything played out according to seed).  We would be facing the #1 seed in the Sweet Sixteen.  I would much rather be a 3 than a 4, and even a 6 over a 4 or 5.

Far too early to say. Assuming we win what we should win and lose what we should lose, 3 is about right. But what if we only lose 1 more Big East game? What if we don't lose any? It's one measurement, but Pomeroy has us favored in 7/9 remaining games. But UConn looks beatable on the road after what ND did today. And WVU is tough, but certainly not an insurmountable obstacle. If we finish 16-2, and Syracuse drops a couple (should've lost yesterday, still have GT at home, UConn and UL both home and away, and Rutgers away) we could win this league outright. Do that, or finish 14-4 or better in league play and win the Big East tournament (ensuring we are the "hot" team and have a 28-6 record) and we could legitimately get a 1-seed.

I have to think we'll slip up once or twice, and there may still be an unexpected loss in there, but other than Syracuse and Kentucky right now, no one is a lock for the top line. Honestly, pretty much anyone in line from the 3-20 teams in the country (except for Murray State, Creighton and the MWC teams) could get a 1-seed. Last year's bubble was really soft at the bottom. This year, there's massive parity at the top.

I think 13/14 sounds about right. I could see UNLV dropping a few spots in the AP Poll but not in the coaches poll. Here is my top 25:

1) Kentucky (21-1)
2) Syracuse (22-1)
3) Ohio State (19-3)
4) UNC (18-3) *Assuming win over Georgia Tech tonight
5) Baylor (19-2)
6) Missouri (19-2)
7) Duke (18-3)
8) Kansas (17-4)
9) Michigan State (17-4)
10) Florida (17-4)
11) Georgetown (16-4)
12) Marquette (18-4)
13) Murray State (21-0) *They'll be higher, but I can't justify it.
14) Creighton (20-2)
15) UNLV (20-3)
16) Virginia (17-3)
17) St. Mary's (21-2)
18) San Diego State (18-3)
19) Mississippi State (17-5)
20) Wisconsin (17-5)
21) Vanderbilt (16-5)
22) Indiana (17-5) *Assuming win over Iowa tonight
23) Florida State (14-6)
24) Louisville (17-5)
25) Gonzaga (17-3) / Harvard (18-2) *Couldn't decide

Others I considered: Michigan, K State, UNCONN

What do you guys think?

I think you've got MU and Georgetown a bit too high.  We'll be behind Murray St., Creighton and UNLV.

I agree. Although UNLV should drop. They had to go to overtime twice this week against BAD teams.

I bet Murray State, Creighton and UNLV will be ahead of MU in the Coaches Poll, but I could see MU sneaking ahead of one or two of them (definitely not Murray State) in the AP Poll.

Either way, it was more what I think the rankings should be as opposed to what I think they WILL be. I think MU beats Murray State and Creighton 8 out of 10 times, if not more, and UNLV 6 or 7 times out of ten.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I see what you're saying.  I agree we beat those teams most games.  Of course I'd like another crack at Syracuse for that matter.

Parrish/Goodman Top 25 (and one):
1. Kentucky (21-1)
2. Syracuse (22-1)
3. Ohio State (19-3)
4. Missouri (19-2)
5. Baylor (19-2)
6. North Carolina (18-3)
7. Duke (18-3)
8. Michigan State (17-4)
9. Kansas (17-4)
10. Creighton (20-2)
11. UNLV (20-3)
12. Murray State (21-0)
13. San Diego State (18-3)
14. Georgetown (16-4)
15. Virginia (17-3)
16. Marquette (18-4)
17. Wisconsin (17-5)
18. Indiana (17-5)
19. Michigan (16-6)
20. Florida (17-4)
21. Mississippi State (17-5)
22. Saint Mary's (21-2)
23. Kansas State (15-5)
24. Florida State (14-6)
25. Gonzaga (17-3)
26. West Virginia (15-7)

They had MU at 20 last week. I can't believe they only drop SDSU to 13 after getting smoked by Colo State.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Seth Davis has MU at 17. His rankings are sort of strange this week:

1. UK 2. Syr 3. Ohio St 4. KU 5. Mizzou 6. Baylor 7. UNC 8. Duke 9. MIch St 10. UNLV 11. Mich 12. Fla 13. Murray St 14. Fla St 15. Gtown 16. Miss St 17. Marq 18. UVa 19. SDSU 20. Wisc 21. Indiana 22. WVa 23. Creighton 24. St. Mary's 25. Gonzaga

Michigan 11...really? Florida State 14...with 6 loses? Mississippi St still ahead of MU? I liked 1-9 and 18-25, but I don't really understand what he did in between.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I accept all wagers that we will move up at least 2 spots in each.  I predict 14 in both polls.

Many voters had us in the 20's, so the losses to those behind us will gain us a lot of votes too... MSU, Mich, KSU, Uconn, WVU, Cincy, and even Illinois.  This is addition to IU, Gtown, and SDSU losing.
