Todd. Effing. Mayo.

I'll be the minority...

Vander Blue.

Spent most of the night at the point and only turned it over twice. No, he didn't score the points that Mayo or DJO did, but his 9 points/8 rebounds were huge. In addition, how much pressure was there on him going to Madison? He played just how I hoped he would, smart, let it come to him. Sure, he missed quite a few shots, but it's Bucky and their eFG% defense...that happens. He also hit one of our two threes and was clutch all game long.

Hey man, I voted him too.

He was great tonight.

Torn between Mayo and Blue.    Is it possible to share?    If not, then I give it to Todd, who put on a Mayo Clinic out there.

Mayo.  Vander was great, and D-Wil was huge on D.  But Mayo played huge.

oooohhhhhhhhh.......
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Dr. Blackheart

Underclassmen with an amazing 31 rebounds. I haven't seen a freshman class so underrated but with so much poise.  Stones to the Buzzman.

Agree.  This is Buzz's lowest rated recruiting class?  The recruiting services might have to turn over their keys.  Wilson plays the defense of a senior, Anderson rebounds like one, and Mayo is a complete player and star in the making.  Great players with higher ceilings and unbelievable they're 7 games into their careers.

Spot on.

Pago Warrior

SOTG should go to entire Freshmen class - D.Wilson's solid D, Juan with hussle and boards, & Mayo's big shots.  Weren't fazed by the khole and played like men.

WarriorHal

Mayo over DJO by a small margin. Davante Gardner was huge, too. 8 pts., 7 rebounds in 14 minutes.

MUMac

I vote Blue, followed by Mayo.  Blue had all the intangibles and did it in his 1st trip to Madison.  Huge 3.  Ran the point a great deal.  Rebounds, defense.  Plus, the 1st half that he played, with Mayo, were critical with DJO and Crowder in foul trouble.

Mayo also came up huge.  His baskets just after UW cuts it to 1.  WOW.  He's a frosh?  Now I know what Ted Baxter saw!

MUFC9295

Blue took his game to another level today.  Mayo was great, but Blue earned some more stripes today. GTST.

schuess56

Mayo was sotg for sure.  He hit big shots  to shut up the crowd in the first half when Badgers started coming back.  He wanted the ball in crunch time.  He made the shot of the game after UW cut it to 3 at the end.   Amazing player.

PuertoRicanNightmare

I this thread proves anything it's that everybody played great. DJO, Vander, Mayo, DWilson. Looking at stats Jae doesn't stand out, but there sure wasn't any point in the game when I thought he played poorly. He Picked up about 5 loose balls on hustle alone.

This is a very, very good team. Look out people. We are headed to a 2 seed. You heard it here first.

Goose

I vote for team defense as SOTG. That was impressive lock down. Winning in Madison does not happen often and the D was unreal.

Blue missed layup after layup after layup... 4 for 14 shooting mostly no footers. He rebounded well, but he was frustrating to watch on offense.

shiloh26

DJO.  He was our "we need an answer" guy when they'd (finally) make a basket.

No one is a wrong decision today.  Can't say enough about that full team effort.  It was so satisfying hearing the "WE ARE MARQUETTE" chants ring out to end the game!

He played 33 minutes...hounded UW players from Brust to Breusewitz to Taylor all day...lead  the team in rebounds.  Keyed the big first half run.

Yeah I know he shot poorly, but he was great in so many other ways.

+1  I vote DJO barely over Mayo.  There were so many times where we needed a basket, and most of the time DJO was our answer.  Great effort by everyone on both ends of the floor, but I really think that the reason we came out on top tonight was DJO's ability to hit the 15-footer time and time again.

Totally agree. Blue was as big a part of this win as anybody. For one thing, he got us off to a great start and that was big.

With that said, the player of the game for Marquette was DJO. I mean, you can reach for freshmen and role players but DJO played like a man today.

Spaniel with a Short Tail

Mayo. That beautiful layup over that tall white guy is the tiebreaker for me.

I wouldn't even say he shot poorly.  Many of his shots were highly contested.  Some led to put backs.  Others were on the rim, just out.

As for the poster complaining, jeez.  A thread about SOTG, commenting on the positives and all he added was a whiny post.  Man, I am getting tired of some of the criticism.  Shows how little many know about basketball.
