Ditto.  Nice article.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

There's exactly one reason I'm glad the NBA season will be salvaged (as of this morning's news) .. that JFB will get his paycheck.

I'm assuming you're from Wisconsin. It's really incredible the different views people have toward the NBA in Chicago and Milwaukee. The Bulls and Derrick Rose are more popular than even the Bears and my entire news feed (boo facebook) got lit up today with people posting pictures of them in Bulls jerseys, the Jordan/Pippin statues, Derrick Rose highlight reels. Not a single thing from the hundreds of Bucks fans I have in my feed.

I for one have been dying for some NBA ball. While college basketball will always be my favorite, the super-athletes that run the NBA are incredible and not watching them clown for a year would kill me.

Funny.  From my point of view all of my people didn't notice that the NBA was gone or back.  It's a dead sport, and will be on the Versus network battling with hockey in the next year or two.

Thats funny because the NBA Finals beat the World Series in terms of ratings this year.  And in case you feel its an aberration, its pretty similar each year, and the NBA was higher last year as well.

The NBA has always started slow.  The main people who were upset about the missed beginning of the season were hardcore fans.  Most casual fans come around Christmas and pick up as the season moves towards the Finals, so their interest hasn't really been harmed at all and the hardcore fans will come back regardless.  I understand that alot of CBB fans dislike the NBA, and I definitely prefer CBB to the NBA, but it is far from dead and statements like that are as dumb and short sighted as the threads about people hating CFB.  The NBA is a massive brand and nothing about that is gonna change any time soon.

I am overjoyed that the NBA season is back on, and it's not because I am a huge fan (I am not).  Besides Jimmy finally getting a paycheck, I am happy for all the working people whose livelihoods were suffering. So, for all the servers at Buck Bradley's, the ushers at the BC, the bartenders at your local sports bar, I say, "Woo Hoo! The lockout is over!"

I'm a huge bulls fan, but there is no way the bulls are more popular than the bears.  Chicago always has and always will be a bears town, even when the bulls were winning 6 rings, the bears were still more popular.
