No, it's not inevitable. No one said that. My point is that Blue could, in theory, become as good an outside shooter as Jake Thomas but Jake could never become as good an athlete as Blue. Some things you can teach. Some things you can't.

You're correct - not inevitable.  Point is, there's hope, because we've seen it happen so many times before... 

Maybe Vander Blue can learn to shoot - maybe not.  Maybe the real message is that even if his shot does not improve much (see:  Dean Meminger, Dominic James) he still stands a pretty fair chance of being an above average player at Marquette based on the rest of his skill set.  If he turns out to be a high percentage shooter as well, watch out.
