MU Fan in Connecticut

It's ugly but the nature of the dirty side of college hoops.

I heard the other day that retired Coach Tom Penders (a local Connecticut guy), was coming out with a tell-all book on college basketball recruiting.

As I'm sure you also know, Nick Williams was also left out of LOI and Williams told MU immediately upon Crean's departure he was not coming to MU....that's who the person implied was "stolen".  In fact, Buzz said he didn't want him and made no attempt to save him.  Seems like a fair analogy to me.

It's an ugly situation when coaches change.  I don't like what Crean did but I have few doubts that Buzz would likely do the same thing, just as KO did and coaches have done for years.  It's ugly but the nature of the dirty side of college hoops.

Nobody is suggesting the college game doesn't have a dirty side, but you're taking three very different situations and trying to equate them as a means of defending - or at least mitigating - what Crean did (i.e. sure, he did something squirmy, but there are other squirmy things, too).

Your chronology of the Nick Williams situation seems impossible, or at the very least irrelevant. He asked out of his LOI the same (or next?) night Crean was hired by Indiana ... and a full week before Buzz Williams was hired. So, whether or not Buzz even wanted him has no relation to the fact Nick Williams was being recruited to Indiana from the moment Crean left, and for at least a week before he was released from his letter of intent.

Curry? He was getting no PT at Arizona, and that likely wasn't going to change with Chris Mills coming in from Kentucky. He wasn't "stolen" by O'Neill in any sense of the word. He chose to transfer to Marquette because he was familiar with the coach, he knew he'd get PT and it was close to home. It's not comprable to the Crean-Williams situation.

Why let facts get in the way of Chico bashing Buzz.
Funny, how II,II is currently 2 commits over the limit for 2012 and still targeting at least one more player.
He is about to tell a few players "Thanks for sticking with us during our darkest hour. Things are about to get much, much brighter.....Get out!"
