Multi-quote
« on: February 15, 2011, 07:20:28 AM »
One feature I miss on this site that I've seen on other sites is the ability to multi-quote. If you want multiple quotes in one response (say my post is answering Chicos and Another84) I would have to select "quote", then either copy it, go back, quote the other post I also wanted to quote, and paste it in. Either that, or create a separate tab in my browser, create a response, then copy and paste both quotes over to that.

It'd be much easier if next to the "quote" option was a "multi-quote" option. You just click that and rather than it going to create a new post, it tags it for your next post. So you can click 2, 3, 4 quotes, but until you actually hit the "quote" button it won't begin creating your post. And when it does, it automatically drags all of the quotes you want into one post.

It would also help the mods when trying to simmer arguments...just quote both Chicos and Ners and then address both at once ;D

Umm .. you can kind of do that, just not in "quick reply".

Hit Preview .. then under your post, you'll see a long list of semi-unformatted replies.  Each of them has an "insert quote" link.  If you click it, the quote gets inserted where your cursor is in the reply (above.)  .. you can click as many "insert quote" as you like.

You can do that in the quick reply too.  If you hit the quote button on multiple posts they'll all show up in the box below in their own quote blocks.  I'll usually hit the quote button and put a few carriage returns between quotes, but that's only for my own readability.  The limitation is that the posts have to be on the same page.
