The announcers just said that buzz and Otule were in each others face before the game.  Any news why?

Be careful Buzz - Otule will take you out.

Oh stop it, this crap happens all the time.

Edit: Crap? Huh, I never realized we were auto censored.

Didn't mean any harm.  was just curious.  If Buzz talked about it with the announcers I don't think he has a problem with us talking about it.

For anyone not watching the broadcast, here's what they basically described.

At shootaround this morning, Buzz confronted Chris, calling him out for not being ready to play. Otule snapped back that he was. Things continued until cooler heads prevail.

Without knowing any details, I love this. Otule could use some edge. And sounds like a decent Al impersonation by Buzz.

I just know fans focus on small things like this whenever they are looking for something to criticize (thus you are feeding an insatiable beast). Fights between players and coaches happen in every sport and every level, and with every coach.

Playing pretty well...
yea whatever happened it seems like it worked

10 points, 7 rebounds and 0 for 5 from line.  Except for the fts, very nice play.
Hope this free throw issue doesn't bite MU in the butt.

Buzz now needs to get in Vander's face.  Brutal, just brutal.  3 turnovers, no points and pulled very quick after last turnover.

I usually give Vander a lot of slack, but he was hurting the team so far today and needed to be taken off the court.

ESPN Announcers .... Buzz fired a bball in Outle chest and screamed "you're not ready to play." Outle ran up to Buzz and got into his grill and gave it back saying "yes I am!!"

And he sat the entire second half.

I love Otule showing some intensity and taking leadership - it shows his confidence is growing.  Good for Buzz for calling him out.  Now if Otule could only manage his fouls better and knock down FTs.

Ughh....he sat the entire second half because of 4 fouls...

Vander is about unplayable at this point.  Something bad happens practically every time he so much as touches the ball, and this isn't new.  We need every win we can get, and as Buzz says, every possession counts, and he wrecks way too many of them on the offensive end of the floor, usually leading to breakouts and easy buckets for the opposition.

Buzz mentioned something about it in the post game.  He seemed very impressed with the way Chris responded.  I couldn't make it all out though as 540 was especially bad tonight.

Boone

Blue's shooting 29.5% from the floor in conference play and when not bricking shots he's a human turnover. His rate of regression is worrisome.

karavotsos

It's fairly clear that Vander does not have the confidence to even put up a shot at this point.  However, the thing that I found more interesting tonight was that his first step was quick enough every time to get around his man.  They're not playing even close to on him, and he got around them.  I think that bodes well.  I'm not afraid that he's not going to work on his shot or not think about how he has to adjust to playing in the BEast.

No matter what anyone's expectations were, he's a freshman in the Big East.  There are a ton of senior guards in the conference this year.  I guess you can expect more right now based on a high school ranking if you want to, but you still have to watch what he's doing and see that there is a future that will be different than the present.

Mr. Nielsen

Nothing to worry about. Otule played and played pretty well.

I blame the ref who strained his calf and missed the 2nd half.  1 foul in the first half for CO, then 3 in about 3 minutes? Sound to me like the other 2 refs overcompensating for the missing guy.

Definitely excited about Otule, has cleaned up the paint a little bit for us.

The extent Buzz has developed Otule makes me wish he could've pulled in a legit big these past few years.

Who would have thought that an MU team's achilles heal would be guard/point guard play, as opposed to Center play?  Otule and DG should be a very serviceable duo for the next 3 years.

If Otule and DG can continue their development to the point where they consistently contribute, I'd imagine that it'll also help with the recruiting of future bigs.

The logic being that it'll be much harder for opposing coaches to tell bigs that MU can't help them get better.

Until now, it would be tough to argue that we've demonstrated that either Buzz or Crean made their bigs into better post players (Novak was more a guard, Jackson was pretty good when we got him)

How many times has a poster written "we need bigs" in the last year?  Seems like Buzz gone a great way to solving this without spending a schollie.
