At least the team understands the concept of GRIND TOGETHER SHINE TOGETHER!!!!

Blackhat

I have loyalty to my eyes too and they can't take too much more  of this ole defense bullsh.t.

RyanConroy

Results in sports are volatile. Every fan base is like this, particularly the closest followers, who, for MU, are represented by pretty much everybody on this board.

Frenns Liquor Depot

I understand when the team does not play to its potential...It is frustrating. We looked better against Duke/Vandy.   Not fun for anyone and has nothing to do with loyalty.

LAZER

I wouldn't say loyalty, perhaps perspective instead.  It sucks that nothing of any substance is being talked about right now, there's so much to be actually talking about as far as the remainder of the season, hell even next season.  Instead it's just people crying on message boards about how MU's coach sucks and the program is headed for a collision course.  I guess people need an outlet...

I get your perspective and it's a fair one.  MU is in a pro town, however, and fans from the big city tend to be a bit more harsh.  May not be right, but that's one explanation.

I don't like the boos, the kids are trying and as long as there is effort I don't think there should be booing.  Others may not feel that way.  Tonight was a disappointment and I'm sure some felt they didn't bring the effort or the heart, but that's always tough to measure.

Some pivotal times potentially for Buzz ahead.  Year 3 and we may miss the NCAA tournament in a year when the tournament EXPANDED...first year with all his guys...I would say that people will begin to analyze things a bit differently moving forward, fairly or unfairly.  I hope he can turn the guys around the last 3 weeks and get us in, as that would quiet some of the frustration.  I would love nothing better than to say he pulled a rabbit out of the hat these last 3 weeks.

I think 18 turnovers, countless careless passes, and getting worked on the offensive boards in the last five minutes of the game are a pretty good place to start measuring effort.

And you lack the ability to face the facts and see that this is a bad team that is plummeting toward oblivion. Yet another total collapse in the second half and this time at home against a bad road team. Horrible, disgusting, sickening performance. Can't come close to playing for 40 minutes. Brings back memories of the Mike Deanne or maybe even Bob Dukiet years. Buzz did great...as long as he had the players Crean recruited. He's kinda like the basketball version of Bill Callahan at Nebraska.

Not a fair statement.  Where would the team last year have been without Jimmy and DJO?

LAZER

Funny to think he was considered a contender for BE coach of the year right behind that douche from Syracuse.  Man he must not have it anymore...

Most of the posts above have nothing to do with a bunch of lame fans. I was at the UCONN game and the same people sat on their hands and looked like they were watching a car wreck.

Warrior1

The problem is Buzz cannot win with a select few posters here. If Marquette wins it is because the players pulled one out in spite of Buzz. If Marquette loses it is because the players couldn't overcome Buzz.

21Jumpstreet

I will admit, I stood up to leave at 1 minute left.  My wife and I both said that we have never left a game before out of disappointment, our kids, maybe, but not disappointment.  I am a half-full, relatively positive poster, I was disgusted by the 20 point swing tonight.  Our turnovers were unacceptable, 3 games in 7 days, young team or not.  Unacceptable.

RE: Boos, those kids better get used to them if they want to play at the next level, like most kids do.

When the other team is outhustling you...you don't seem to have a sense of urgency (until there's less than a minute left)...you TO the ball more than you usually do...AND IT'S A BIG GAME...AT HOME...

the Boo Birds are gonna be out, and deservedly so.

Don't give me your pro town crap since you live in the LA metro area and they can't even support an NFL team.

In your line of thinking, we shouldn't recruit JUCOS and Buzz should have a built in excuse to be sheltered for a few more years. The bottom line is that they had much better ball handlers that changed directions very well and our guard play isn't as good as it was the last 5 years.

Matt Doherty was ACC Coach of the Year before being fired 2 years later.  To be clear, I'm not suggesting that should happen to Buzz, but I was just countering your comment with a real world example where it actually did happen.

Maybe it would help if Grind Together meant playing some defense...

cheebs09

This team is lacking a chip on their shoulder I feel. Last year it seemed like no one would push us around and the crowd would feed on that. Also, the amount of three pointers we hit probably amped the crowd up a bit. It just seems like the crowd wants to get into it at times, but there are turnovers and stretches where we just look helpless on both defense and offense.

Hopefully the team will take on an us against the world type mentality, even if it involves being mad at the fans. I think it goes back to the leadership that was talked about earlier. Some of that should come from the coach, but most of it should be on the players to take responsibility. Last year, we had Lazar. I just don't think we have that guy this year. Hopefully Crowder can turn into that. He is the one I think that most likely will be the leader next year.

punchystones

As much as Buz loves to cite his stats and all of that he might want to look at their pathetic defensive stats. His teams have been poor defensively ever since he took over.  They have no commitment to the defensive end or rebounding.  They gave up 80 pts at home to St. Johns, embarassing.

Blackhat

I'll put my rant here:

WTF does Scott Monarch do?   He can't recruit elite, he's just a buzz mini-me with a backwood basketball resume.    Buzz needs to get some D I experience on his staff and preferably a guy who can coach defense.

Or we can just continue to suck and he can get fired eventually. His move, I guess.

On the contrare, we're goin' to need a monkey jumpin' out of our ass this year.

As to the original post here, the players, coaches and fans should realize that you earn respect and loyalty. We've been told over and over that MU plays tougher and harder than anyone else despite a lack of talent. First, this isn't true. Second, its getting old.

I wrote about this when Layer left.

The biggest mistake that would be made is not doing a search, biding time, and then promoting his best friend. Monarch is overmatched at this level. Buzz had a prime opportunity to get some strong DI experience on the bench next to him with that opening and he failed.
