The intentional foul on Crowder was bad.  The non-intentional foul on DJO was fine given that the first one was just stupid.

But DJO was not fouled.  He was out of control going 1 on 3.

Yes. And you realize that you're acting like a total douchebag, right?

Why exactly???  Good teams win that game.

Give it a break we play a ranked team on their home court with a chance to win it with four seconds.

Did we lose very game Burr worked last year?

Last year - every game he reffed, MU lost............looked it up....

Better, still not good enough.  Which is what NIT teams say for most of the year.  I wish we'd look to kick out and shoot the three before desperation time; had to be three or four turnovers from trying to force things inside when there wasn't anything there.  Sure we're not a good shooting team, but there aren't too many sets calling Buycks or DJO to put it up so most of their shots seem out of rhythm.  Transition defense was abysmal, rebounding improved.  Good game for Otule, unfortunate that the quick third foul threw him off...was still putting it in but Vandy was going at him every time down.  Have to hope Fulce gets healthier and Gardner learns to rebound, then I'd feel very good about the half court D.

Plus if we ever do get good enough to win you can guarantee the pretty boy Jim Burr will make certain we lose.  I'd be a lousy coach, cause I'd probably take a 5 game suspension just to piss on him in the post game presser.

Slow mo'ed it..paused it...and it was a trip...

Did the same thing, no trip....hip maybe, but not a trip from what I could see.

The non-intentional call was BS.

Sorry no break for giving up a layup with 5 seconds left and then not getting a shot off.  Have fun giving out your breaks.

I don't intend to be a douche, but this is division one basketball. Wins define a team not valiant losses. There are no certificates of participation awarded to teams that play hard and don't win.

Mr. Nielsen

16-5 for Vandy to start the game and a 12-0 run by Vandy after MU lead 47-40. You can't let that happen if you want to win on the road.

Plenty Marquette did that prevented us from getting the win. Poor FT shooting, some matador defense, and one too many runs from Vandy. But they did more to win this game than they did to lose it. They rebounded much better than we've seen. They hit big shots when they needed to (Buycks, DJO, even Blue). They mostly took John Jenkins out of the game with solid defense. This was without a doubt the most complete effort this team has put out there to date, and quite simply, we were robbed of a win.

When there's contact that sends a guy sprawling, whether it's a trip or an incidental hip check, the foul has to be called. You can't let a team lose when a guy goes to the floor like that. When you have a 2-on-0 break and the guy is fouled, you can't let them simply take it out of bounds. It's intentional and deserves to be treated as such. You can't let a guy go over the back, then call the guy who was initially fouled for an intentional when he turns around like they did with Crowder. Yes, there are things Marquette could have done to win, but on the road, in this atmosphere, the way we played we should have won by 8-10 points. If you factor in harsh reffing, maybe we win by 4. But to lose this game, the only way I see it happening is getting absolutely, completely screwed over by the refs. We could have done things to win, but it was the refs that did things to hand the game to Vandy on a platter. The refs kept them in it (and ahead) with calls at only one end. Anyone who really thinks that the foul differential being that close is blind. If we had went 7/25 from the line, then maybe it would have been just us losing. But 13 free throw attempts for this team, with their aggression, and with guys going down during drives like they did? Please.

Sadly, this game may very well cost us a place in the tourney in March. I really think anything less than 12 Big East wins isn't a lock, unless included in the 11 wins are at least 3 top-ten teams. I don't foresee almost any circumstance where 10 wins gets it done, unless we make the Big East tourney semis.

I'm still really effing pissed about this one.

For what it's worth, the play by play guy and the former coach of Alabama slo-moed it and said it was a trip. Doesn't matter whether he was tripped or hip checked. Burr swallowed his whistle, we lose.

He also said Otule was born with one eye and Crowder was a 50% free throw shooter....I wouldn't hang my hat on what Gottfried said.

I'm still going to go out on a limb and guess he's even better than the magnificent Chicos when it comes to breaking down what happened based on filmed replay.
