Rebound, make 3's or play post defense, these things happen.   Rebounding was the difference.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

LA

Absolutely. Also doesn't help that we didn't score from the field for the first 8 minutes of the second half. Brutal game, we still have no rhythm.

NIT here we come (if we're lucky)! Pathetic effort. Stupid, stupid play. Buzz will say he needs to be held accountable, blah, blah, blah. Clutch Buycks shows his true colors in the last possession.

Has anyone seen Jamail Jones in warm ups, practice, whenever?  Is he a pure shooter?   Can he potentially provide some offense?  I know his defense is a liability, but, man we need something from the outside and until DJO gets it going (if ever) MU is going to struggle.   EWill could have potentially provided some energy on the boards today....

I've seen him in games.  He's not ready.

Don't forget about the Turnovers (quite a few unforced as well)

One thing the Badgers did best today is find the open man and run a patient offense.  They knew how to suck our defense and kick it out to a relocated shooter.

There was a point in the second half today that I said to myself, "I don't care if Marquette wins today.  But when we give the effort that we did on the defensive end - it's not even worth it."  That's probably where all my concern is with this team.  Lack of communication, defensive rotation is terrible (watch the game again and look at how many times we lost our man on D - See Jae Crowder), effort effort effort.  The rebounding comes with effort and there was none today.

It's really sad to see us play like that.  It's not when the clock gets to the final 2 minutes when we're like, "Uh oh, we better start playing with some urgency."  Maybe that's what Buzz means when he says we have to be "Us."  I don't know.....just frustrated.

Buycks fault?  Some may say DJO reached in on his own player.

Jacks DC

Not sure why Otule only got 8 minutes.  Gardner needs more minutes too - he was once again one of the few bright spots.

Really? I know exactly why.

Hey Vikings, I like what you've done with the basement.

"Lazar Hayward. The L stands for leader, and the W stands for winner, Lazar Hayward is a winner."

Boone

I think this is "Us." And it's not a pretty sight.

Jacks DC

Have to point the finger at Buzz too.  Why did he use the last time out so early?  Seemed like our only offense was to have someone drive all the way to the hoop and hope for a foul.  No ball rotation to get the defense out of position.

Really. bycks kep us in the game in the first half. Why not rip DJO and his pitifull shooting and out of control drives to the hoop?

Boone

That should go without saying.

After ten games, it is obvious MU is going to struggle against quality opponents.  There will be some who will say, "we played Duke close, we played Gonzaga close, we played UW close", yet MU lost all three.

When you cannot rebound or shoot from the outside, the forecast is dismal. Yet it is the inconsistency that I don't understand.  One player plays great one game, then the next is terrible.  Then another does the same and it adds up.

Otule starts the game, plays two minutes and sits.  Same as second half.
Smith starts the game, plays two minutes and sits. Same as second half (yes twisted ankle, but he would have sat).  Does anyone have any idea as to why Buzz does this?  If it's that practice thing, well then lets have some dazzling practice players execute in the game..

Can't remember any MU player having a worse second year than DJO.  It is literally mind boggling and he is not even close to last year.  If he cannot shoot from the outside he is actually a liability to the team and Buzz is maybe starting to believe that.  DJO had significant bench time today.

At the present time this is a mediocre BE team and I hope the staff finds some solution quickly.

Really???? how about he is borderline useless unless he plays against guys he is 4 inches taller than.

MUfan12

Three point shooting was not an issue today. Offense was not the issue.

They shot 48%. 4-9 from three, which is a near ideal number of attempts for them. They shot twice as many FTs as UW made. They only had 10 turnovers. They created space and attacked. I was quite pleased with their offense.

But you cannot give an opponent 11 more shots, and give up 12 offensive rebounds in a half. And you certainly cannot let their ONLY 3 scorers combine for 50 out of 69 points.

This team is not very good. And frankly, I'm a bit worried their not very well coached either. Two months of practice and they still struggle in a base man to man defense. They go into a game knowing the other team has three scoring threats and they can't take any of them away.

Buycks was our best player today.  The last play was supposed to be a hand-off, or keep, depending upon defensive positioning, and DJO knocked it out of his hands.  He was 6-8, one three, a couple assists...

I know he's our favorite target this year, but he had a game today.

warriorfred

I feel like I'm watching a team of Todd Townsends.  Good athletes and occasional scoring threats, but nothing special.  While I believe this team is more athletic top to bottom than the Final Four team, there are no exceptional players yet.  DJO has dispappeared, Jimmy Butler seems average, and the rest of team is too young or sorely lacking in basketball IQ.

Long season to come.

Clam Crowder

I am pretty sure Otule can't catch the ball

JMcSteal

or when u run an offense where all you do is drive, hope to get fouled or take and awful runner or off balanced contested shot

Freeport Warrior

We lost because of rebounding. Horrible effort. We sucked and deserved to lose.

Even I agree.  At least Buycks didn't play scared and tentative, which is more than can be said for some other players.

How about a lack of heart?? This team only seemed to step it up with 3 minutes left and down 9 points... until then, there was absolutely no sense of urgency whatsoever.
