I know 75% of you will probably complain and refuse...... but the other board is trying to put a gold out together for the Madison game.

Of course, I'll wear gold as it is one of our colors.  I/We may have objected to being called Gold, but I have no objection to proudly wearing school colors, INCLUDING gold.   Also, gold will help blunt any ugly red in the stands... ;)

rocky_warrior

I'll be wearing gold, but sadly I won't be at the game.  Don't most here (except for PRN) wear gold to every game anyway???

Muhoops85

Agree, many will complain, but I challenge all to wear your gold in honor of Hank.  If that does not motivate you, and how can it not?, what about in support of Joe Fulce?

I will don my gold and get the red out!

I'll have a gold Warriors shirt on

TallTitan34

I am impressed!  I thought this would have been shot down by most scoopers.  My apologies!

I will wear gold. Always do. Too many stick in the mud adults and alums who are too stodgy to buy or wear something gold. I'd love to see a gold out. My guess is it will be about 60% just like the last time we tried to have it done. I hope I'm wrong but even a bunch of guys who sit near my season tickets who I know are huge MU fans........NEVER wear gold. Or team colors. Come on.

New Era Warriors

DJO's Pump Fake

Always have gold on.  Keep those commy reds out

reinko

My torso will be covered in gold, but of course my sleeves and neck will be covered by my white turtleneck.

I'd rather be dead than red!
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Can somebody explain to me the reason some people don't want to wear gold? Has it not always been a Marquette color, whether Warriors or Golden Eagles, or heck, Golden Avalanche and Hilltoppers?

brewcity77

I'm happy to wear gold...every game it's either blue or gold. If people want a gold-out, then gold it is :D

Some people believe (or, maybe even know) that Crean was behind the change of the name to Gold, calling the student section the "Gold Rush" (or whatever it was) and pushing for people to wear gold to games.  Thus, no matter how much sense it makes to wear gold to games (it looks GREAT on tv), some people are violently opposed because that's what Crean wanted.
Never wrestle with a pig.  You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.

there are a variety of reasons, but i always just got the impression some ppl (older crowd primarily) is too stubborn 'just cause'. your reasons make sense though

I think its especially important for this game, where there will be a significant number of away fans in attendance. Wearing a neutral color like grey or white...or even navy blue...even if it is a Marquette color will not negate the fans wearing red. If we really want to make the BC look like our house we need to wear gold. It is the most distinctive Marquette color

Gold sweatshirt was the first article of MU gear I ever purchased at the Spirit Shop (it was on sale, of course)...I'll be wearing it.

I think you're both right on, just for different groups of people.  When I was at MU in the late 70's, blue was definitely the color.  The way I remember it, Crean was behind pushing the gold color.  If that's why some people don't like it, I think they should get over it, Crean was right on this one, it does look better on TV.  If someone wants to continue with the cherished rag they wore all though the '76-'77 season, I can understand that though.  Maybe they could wear it under an oversized yellow sweatshirt like Michael Jordan did when he wore his North Carolina shorts under his Bull's uniform.

What bothers me is that, as much as I love MU (and wear gold to every game), if Badger Nation were to put out the word that for one of their huge games they wanted everyone coming to the game to wear a red shirt (or white), you all know that 95%+ of the stadium will be solid one color and it looks very cool.

Meanwhile at MU, trying to get the stadium to 'gold out' ends up about 60% to 70% and it just looks kinda lazy and half-a$$ed. I'd love to see it but I'm assuming I'll be disappointed Saturday.

PuertoRicanNightmare

1. Color-outs at sporting events are so played out it's ridiculous.
2. Dressing the same as others, in any context (jeans day, Hawaiian shirt day, hat day) is completely pathetic.
3. Wearing gold, to me, is an inherent endorsement of our nickname and I will never do it.
4. Although a Saturday game is a different story, asking people to wear gold...an awful color on pretty much everybody in the world...all day is a tall order. If you have to do something this lame, why not have a navy blue out?

Will I wear gold? No, but my blue sweatshirt will have gold lettering, if that helps.

Muhoops85

I agree people have their various reasons for not wearing gold.  From a visual standpoint, it does look better on TV.

Not sure why MU BB cannot tweet this to everyone or do one of their email blasts?  Or perhaps those of us "older" alums who do not tweet would respond to the robo-dialer with a message from Buzz or one of the team to wear gold.

If you know of any STH or alums who will be at this game and do not visit the message boards, call them and tell them to wear gold.
