Not really.  Gardner had participated previously in summer camps and the like here. 

But it's not like anyone was running around wondering if Buzz could successfully recruit him.

I always wondered how you could use Gardner and thin in the same sentence.

Try this: When Gardner jumps, there is a very thin amount of air between his feet and the floor.
