I don't remember Burke or Grimm or Barro putting up games like that even against the top teams.  Especially not in their first two games.

The guy scored some points against small teams.  It's hard to project much out of it.  But it is encouraging that his performance shows progress for MU big men.

Holy S.

Guys, it's been 2 games.

2 F-ing games.

Relax.

We don't know how good this kid is going to be. Calm down.

God, I hate sports fans and the internet.

/self loathing.

Next weeks games will give us a better sense of how effective he can be against top flight opponents.

Yes, and if he struggles against Duke, we can all get on here and freak out about how he's overrated and MU needs a big man.

HA.

I'm actually expecting Gardner to play 4 minutes in a tough loss while this board explodes with people saying that MU would have won if Buzz had played The Ox more!

Gonzaga will be a tough test if Ox and Otule if we get them in the second round.  They have some size that could hurt us.  I didn't realize they were 12 in the country.  We are in for a really, really good test in KC.  Our freshmen will have their hardest games behind them basically and will grow up a lot in November.

I suspect Fulce will end up with the important minutes against the good teams.  Experience will matter if we get to crunch time against Duke, K-State/Zags, Wisco, and Vandy.

I'm just as hopeful as the next guy, but Gardner's performance was against 2 pre-season teams, OOC, generally referred to as cupcakes.   (Remember, Bucknell finished RPI 235 last year.  Pomeroy predicts them to go 14-16)

In addition .. while Gardner scored the points that led to a comeback victory against Bucknell .. recall that he was being guarded by a guy with 4 PFs, who was playing to not pick up his 5th.

We'll all know Gardner's skills in 8 short days.
Against these "cupcakes", Gardner has outscored all on the team, except Butler. So comparing his performance to our other players who were being counted on much more, we should be very pleased with him.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

Gardner is going to the association after leading the team to the final four this year.  There'll be plenty of playing time available.   ;D

It will be all the more impressive, because "the offense doesn't run through him".

Sorry - couldn't resist.   ::)
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

I am not saying that Gardner is anything greater than he is.  I think he is a four year guy as well.  I think that our frustration of not landing top 100  post players when we obviously have minutes to give is warranted.  But Gardner was a project big with conditioning problems.  He has skills to score with great hands and feet but none of us were expecting 17 points in any game this season, not even against rhe Washington generals.  I am excited that Gardner competes and hopefully will improve enough to help us in conference.  But using him as an example buzz can tell a top 100 post of say shaw's caliber that a big can thrive on this.team dull of great guards and switchables.  if DG can do it...

You realize K-State is #3 also don't you?

I think he was thinking that we'll lose to Duke and they'll lose to K-State, pitting us against the Zags in the consolation game.

I predict next year's NBA draft: #1, Gardner. #2, Gasser.

I'm going Gasser #1, he's a more traditional player
