With regard to Anderson and Faust:

1) Faust is an elite level national prospect that is not going to turn down a school simply because a mid-level prospect has committed to one of the three scholarships available.

2) Marquette has been more then a sidebar in his recruitment all summer long. If he stayed home, it's Maryland. If he went away, it's Marquette. It would be suspect to drop a school you're willing to leave home for because they landed a player who likely won't be much competition for you (JA at the 3 and 4 whereas NF at the 2 and 3 moving to 1). There is a reason. And its not Anderson's commitment.

3) Finally, the main tenets of Buzz' recruiting are versatility and length. That means he will take similar prospects in one class knowing they spread over two or three or even four positions. This is why people are still excited at the possibility of Hood or Shaw even with Anderson in the fold. You can't trumpet versatility when you land a player and then claim there's an overlap when another prospect turns you down.

With regard to Wright:

Any objective college basketball person will tell you that Jay Wright is outstanding on the recruiting trail. He is simply a class above. He's landed elite talent in the markets you have to have a presence in and his teams produce on that talent even if people question his Xs and Os.

One of his first classes at Nova was Ray, Foye, Sumpter, and Fraser. The breadth and depth of that class blows away anything MU has seen in over a decade (even with Fraser being robbed of a career due to his knees). He's followed it up through two renewed cycles with elite talent. He is a god.

To the bolded items

1)I wouldn't exactly refer to Juan Anderson as a "mid-level prospect."  He is pretty much a consensus Top 100 kid.

2) It isn't about Buzz "taking" Faust..it's about Faust choosing Marquette...and now in addition to Jamail Jones, Jamil Wilson, Vander Blue (all guys who were pretty much thought to be Top 30-70 consensus talents nationally) along with DJO next year -  add Juan Anderson to that mix - and you really don't think that would affect Faust's thought process?  You think him getting to MU as a freshman - that he'd be better than any of the 4 vets?  Probably not..now add in another wing in Anderson..even more competition.

3) Jay Wright is a good coach/recruiter sure - but he's been in the profession 10 years longer than Buzz..and been at Villanova going on 10 years.  Why compare Buzz to Jay..and imply Buzz got "owned" by Jay Wright in the Pinkston recruiting battle?  But regarding the Foye, Ray and Sumpter class - let's see how Buzz's group of Vander, Jamail Jones, Reggie Smith, Jamil Wilson and Devante Gardner turn out...my bet...they'll do some great things in their time at MU
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

This is getting silly and I'll stop here:

1) In terms of national prospects, Anderson is mid-level. He will be rated in the 70s in one service and in the 120s in another service. We'll see if his RSCI comes in under 100. Faust is a no-doubter at the high end of these rankings. Compared to Faust, Anderson is mid-tier. That brings me to point number two.

2) MU was a realistic choice for Faust regardless of who took the other two spots. Anderson didn't stop that. Three of the guys you listed have never played. One of them will only be around for a year. And the other one, at his height, will be getting time mostly at the 4 and 3 whereas Faust will be at the 2 and 3. That's not exactly a situation that should scare a prospect like Faust into dropping a school who was running 1A in his recruitment for many months.

3) Jay Wright is a god on the trail. Simple as that.

Ladies, look at your coach.  Now look at Jay.  Now look at your coach now BACK TO JAY.

Jay Wright is the coach you wish your coach smelled like

Anderson will be a top 100 maybe top 75 RCS, and he is a guy who went from being unrated 6 months ago to top 100. He must either be improving or getting more exposure.

I'd bet a lot of money that Juan will end up in the top 100 RSCI. He already is, his exposure is going way up but still has a ways to go, and I believe another poster said that ranking does not include a recent #80 ranking that wasn't previously included. Hardly mid-tier. In comparison to Quincy Miller, Nick Faust is mid-tier...

Also, I really hope Anderson doesn't see much time at the 4. No reason we need to continue the trend of 6'6 guys playing power forward.
