Sure hopes Utah matches, and if they do I would think he'd like to stay there. Sloan really likes Wes and we can't forget that Utah was the only team that gave Wes a chance. Plus, we'd be able to watch him more  ;).

Actually you didn't say half, you said less than half when you said, "Yeah...no way Matthews is a $3 M a year player at this point.  Too limited offensively."

Well, you can be assured that I didn't say it was risky to defend comments I had made back in May.

I honestly didn't even remember saying the above.

if utah matches, he has to go there.  that's the whole point of being a restricted free agent.

wow, on an earlier thread we had discussed that portland is tricky when it comes to playing time, because they have a lot of guys that seemingly mirror wes in terms of size and strengths.  but for that kind of money, they must have a plan to get him on the floor.

side note: even if they aren't sure how to employ him, maybe they figure that he has enough intangibles that he would be easily tradeable if they dont end up giving him enough pt to reflect that kind of $$? a playoff team could always use a guy like that off the bench at the deadline.

Yeah, as someone else mentioned, teams must have liked how he showed up in the playoffs as a rookie, guarding some of the best offensive players in the game.

Portland may have slightly overpaid, but they got a good player locked up for a long time and that is what is important.  In 3 years if Wes can do, for an entire season, what he did this year in the playoffs it will a steal at 6 mill.

Roy spends a lot of time at the 3 so Wes will get a lot of minutes, if not start.  Also when typing brandon roy into the bing search bar the first thing that pops up is: brandon roy injury.

Think Roy might start at the 3 and let Wes play the 2?

Awesome. Im hearing that the blazers coach likes Wes at the 2 and 3. Im also hearing that this signing could signal a big trade by the blazers to get rid of fernandez or maybe batum

Chris Paul is rumored.

Bell's a pretty good pickup, not much of a downgrade or none at all if he can stay healthy.
