With freshman Jamail Jones already on campus for the first session of summer school, nearly all of the remaining 2010-11 recruits arrived in Milwaukee this weekend.

Jones has been joined by Vander Blue, Davante Gardner, Reggie Smith, Jamil Wilson and walk on Dave Singleton.  The group was quickly introduced to college life with a team meeting and the recruits have already participated in classes, tutoring sessions, workouts and photographs.

Singleton played two seasons at High Point University under current MU Director of Basketball Operations Bart Lundy.  He will sit out in 2010-11 and have two seasons of elibility left.

The only remaining member of Marquette's nationally ranked recruiting class not on campus as of yet is junior college transfer Jae Crowder.  The national player of the year will arrive in time for the start of the Fall semester.

So much for the Philly pipeline drying up...

nyg

This walk-on does not use up a scholarship, right?

He's from Coastesville, PA. How can that be? After Buzz Williams ruined the life of DJ Newbill, the chances of a player from PA/Philadelphia area ever attending MU dried up completely. I realize time heals all wounds, but this is ridiculous.

So Frozena will still be able to play this year? and by play I mean "play"

nyg

Seriously, this does not/cannot use up a scholarship?

No, Frozena had received no indication this was happening until Buzz blind sided/pulled the rug out from under/screwed him. Look for the exclusive video report on what happened coming soon.

Seriously, yes.  Just want to be sure, sometimes they turn into scholarships.  I don't possess your expertise in these matters and thanks again for your response.

similar to Buzz saying a player would be going to prep school...Buzz also indicated there would be two walkons this year.

David kills Gardner Webb.  Should come in really handy for those early December tilts. :)

Buzz actually had an assistant notify Frozena of the change.  Buzz was unavailable for comment, but exclusive video report will speculate as to what he would have said.

No. A walk-on does not take up a scholarship. There are cases like this where a player is invited to join the team as a walk-on. Occasionally an invited walk-on will then earn a scholarship in the future. Jeff Jordan did this at Illinois.

I agree... Read his bio from High Point, he played a lot (Actually started his freshman year). Definitely not your average walk-on.

He went to The Hill School, a boarding school in PA, for High School.  I checked out their website, 2010-11 tuition is is $45,500 per year, (but only 31,500 for day students).

Methinks he comes from some money.

Think we can ask Brad to get a video interview of this cat?

Nice, pretty good player, especially for "free".  Time to add a few more gray boxes to that scholarship table!

Ain't that far away from Philly.

From Wikipedia (Chester County, where Coatsville, PA is located):

Chester County is a county located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. As of 2000, the population was 433,501. The county seat is West Chester. It is the highest-income county in Pennsylvania and 24th highest in the nation as measured by median household income (as of 2010).[1] Chester County is home to many communities that comprise the westernmost extent of the wealthy Main Line suburbs.
