What if the "two who haven't shown anything" were, say, John Wall and D Wade coming into their first seasons? I think I would have taken either over a proven Big East starter or a solid bench player. I hope (and suspect) you would too.

In the "proof or potential" argument there is only ever one winner when the bias is taken away.

If we're going to do a nonsensical hypothetical you should have just written Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan instead of Wall and Wade. Would've been more fun.
