Heaven help our Big East rivals...

Jamail just sent it in with authority.

oooooooooooooooooh man.

Another top 10 highlight.

Findlay is definitly the better team and I still hope the gophers land Joseph. WIlliams even said Joseph is the best point guard of this class.

Jones has a couple of bad bounces on his drives but he continues to make free throws and just threw down a big one.
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

He wasn't satisfied with #3, he wants #1 on Sportscenter top 10.

It's going to be interesting to see James Bell vs. Jamail/Crowder.

27-26 Findlay at the half

Excellent looking length, athleticism, and stroke. As the ESPN analysts would say "can do it inside and out" The kid will be able to contribute immediately

Only dig is that he seems to get lazy and take plays off on the defensive end- I trust Buzz will be able to help him improve here

PGsHeroes32

Buzz already told Jay Williams that Jamail will play and be an immediate impact.

is it just me or does he seem a step above bell? The last couple games bell has taken some selfish and stupid shots.

I agree, he could do better on D, but he seems to be the guy they put on Cory Joseph!  Man, that kid is rather nasty himself.

Yeah, but he's been stuck guarding 6'9" Tristan Thompson on switchoffs.

In fact, the only kids I saw getting playing time than are taller than Jamail are Ndao 6'8 and Okam 7'0.

Which, along with the headband, would qualify him to fill Zar's big shoes next season. ;)

I don't want to get too far ahead of things here, but Jones may have the most NBA potential of all the incoming recruits. He has really good size for the guard position, good stroke from the outside already, and has great athleticism to go with it all. Just needs to continue to improve his game all-around, get better defensively, and learn to play hard consistently for 40 minutes. I think this kid has tremendous upside folks.

Interesting...at least he's not a one and done...and can see his stock rise as well as attract positive attention to Buzz and Co. at MU.

EDIT: Bell does NOT look impressive. If he's really talented, he's really struggling.

Wow he Jamail looks good.  Just knocked down a three and the announcers made a comment along the lines being like Hayward in his ability to hit a 3 and get to the basket.  Good to hear that about a future player.

Id be surprised to NOT see Blue, DJO and Jones as our three guards on the court a lot next year. That's a lot of athleticism on the court.  Smith probably won't be ready to be the main backup PG (I think he's a good redshirt candidate), so we will have to turn to Blue to takeover a lot next year. We could arguably be playing with a more talented backcourt than the Big Three.

Montverde's gonna lose this one if their PG continues to play out of control and Bell shoots like he's the BMOC.

That said, Findlay is disgustingly deep and talented.

PGsHeroes32

Findlay is a much more talented team. Monteverde has some athletic freaks, but the talent top to bottom is no doubt Findlay.

Uh oh, Junior already riding pine? In all honesty, the injury might have hurt the kid more than I originally thought- he woulda gotten plenty of minutes and been a virtual lock to start at the PG position. Now, he has a lot of competition at the guard spot, and if he doesnt defend well Buzz may decide to go without a true PG since the team will have plenty of ball handlers. Either way, he will likely see less minutes than we originally thought... I hope he ends up getting plenty of minutes because I think the team can use a pure PG to set up all the slashers/shooters

77ncaachamps

This Montverde PG is like Mo, Jr.!

He's just too small and getting abused by the bigger, stronger Findlay guards!

Thats not my issue, my issue is that he has looked EXTREMELY lazy getting back on defense, even on his missed shots. He just doesnt look like he wants to hustle to get back and defend, or dive in for loose balls, etc. I know hes in high school and a lot of hs kids do that, but he WONT be able to do that on Buzz's team

That said, if there was one area that needed improvement I would pick this one- intensity and defensive effort- because Buzz will definitely fix that. If not, Mr Jones won't be playing

I looked up Cory Joseph's short list, and man...I kinda hope he stays away from the Big East!

None of those guys is ready to play point in the Big East.
Junior may not be either, but he's easily the best candidate. And as much as everyone is excited about the new guys, Junior was a pretty highly rated recruit in his own right, as high as any of the incoming freshmen.

PGsHeroes32

One thing I would like to add is even though Jones seems a little lazy to all of us, he is a very solid rebounder and with his size at guard it is something we will greatly need.

If not for about 3 or 4 shots that just rolled of the rim hed be nearing 30 pts. Hes got game.
