The goof didn't even remember what happened on the last possession, insisting that DB shot a three.  Homer and Mac kept telling him no shot was even taken.  It's no wonder the players get so confused and tentative at clutch spots.  Buzz seems to come up with good gameplans and makes some good adjustments, but has no clue...and I mean NO CLUE...what to do at the end of a game.

I just said to my wife, he seems to be a great coach and a nice person but he has had some pretty bad post game interviews.  Granted I am sure his head is spinning after games, but more than once I thought, "huh?" listening to him after games.  Oh well, no one is perfect.  I can deal with that.

Right...he just doesn't have any idea what to do at the end of a game.

Seriously?  ::)

PuertoRicanNightmare

At least he shows up for the post game shows.

Didn't hear today's, but his postgame after the Georgetown game was a pleasure to listen to.

some you jokers really crack me up.  so buzz was drained after the game and gave an inarticulate interview.  so what?

i bet you his mind was on things like keeping his teams spirits up and turning these close game loses around.

buzz always give you honesty and humility, and if he blanks on some details after a tough loss, I for one am okay with that.

Nukem2

He simply got it in his head that they were asking about a play earlier when Buycks missed the wide open 3. In the end, a good job of coaching.

JustinLewisFanClubPres

Young coaches have to learn just like young teams do.  He is facing some of the best coaches and teams in college basketball so I'd have to say that I'm pretty happy with him.  I'd rather him be with the team than doing a post game interview right now anyway.

Blanks on details?!?!?!

On the final possession of the game?!?!

I'd rather hear Buzz speak, who has a sense of humility even after being on the job 466 days, than the old dickhead who came up with one lameass excuse after another.
"Give 'Em Hell, Al"

robmufan

They hired buzz to coach...not do post game interviews!

Buzz had a play drawn up...I am sure it involved JB turning the ball over!!

He's frustrated, a million thoughts going through his head, get over it.

Oh I forgot, he and his coaching staff just stared blankly at each other at the end of the game and didn't have a clue what to do. But you, ole Jimmy Naismith, have all the answers.

Buzz did fine. He coached us to within a whisker of a miracle win with the number 6 team in the country in an arena where no one has won in years! I have often questioned Buzz's communication style but doggone it he coaches toughness better than some big name coaches who do nothing but talk about it. I am actually enjoying this season. :)

MuMark

MU picked to finish 12th in the Big East by the coaches. That prediction assumed we would have Cadougan, Maymon and Otule.

We just lost to the #6 team in the country by 2 points on court that they have won 34 times in a row on.

I think Buzz is doing fine......we are lucky to have him.

No Finish Line

MNEagle84

Buzz was basically right.  Technically the last possession of the game was DJO (I think) making a three at the buzzer bringing the game to 78-76.  Was Homer talking about the possession before right after Haywards free throws?  Maybe they should have clarified which one.  Either way, Buzz is doing just fine.  We lost to some tough teams at the end of the game...it happens to everyone...

They didn't even get a friggin' shot off!!!!

This isn't the first time that's happened with Williams.  He's good at gameplanning, but CYO level at managing end-of-the-game situations.

Someone should do a recap of end of the half and end of the game situations under Buzz and see how often MU gets a decent shot off.

would your rather have a smooth/pr coach that gets his head handed to him in conference play or an emotional guy that takes the #6 team to the wire on their home court?
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

they were supposed to take the first, best shot.  Mo gave it to Jimmy in a terrible spot and he turned it over.  how is that buzz's fault?

what do you mean by "that confused during the last timeout"?  what evidence do you have of that?  you took issue with the interview, but now you switch the subject and assume he was "that confused during that last timeout."

you, my friend, seem to be far out of your element.

I could care less about PR.  I just want a coach who can be successful at crunch time.  A coach who knows what he's doing at the end of a close game and can communicate that to the players and get them to execute a play when needed.  The shot doesn't have to go in, but get a good shot off.

If people are satisfied with a nice guy (and Buzz is a nice guy...met him at Williams Sonoma at Mayfair last Christmas...he just started talking to my Mom and myself while his wife did the Christmas shopping) that can't get his team over the hump in close games, then so be it.  I'll take the jerk who wins.

Your 10 posts are more embarassing as an "MU fan" than anything Buzz has said after a barn-burner.  My guess is your a badger fan who has a niece who goes to MU, therefore you consider yourself a newly found "objective MU fan."

Cliff notes of gumbyandpokey posting history: "waaaa"

If you are not a badger fan, then you must be a fun person to sit next to at a stadium, plane, movie, church, etc...

muole

so gumby, should they just fire him now?  that seems to be what you're implying.

if you want to blame the late game execution on buzz, you also have to give him credit for the previous 39:30.

I'm curious, who was getting their head handed to them in conference play?

Didn't switch any subject.  I said if Buzz was as confused in that final timeout as he was during the postgame interview, then it's not a surprise the players looked clueless on that last play.  But, hey, if you want to celebrate another close loss, then go right ahead.  This isn't an isolated incident.  MU stinks at the end of close games.  But moral victories are great and Buzz is a class guy, so losses don't matter.
