With all the speculation that Jeronne's seeming departure is based on his unhappiness at playing out of position for the first 10 games of his MU career, I can't help but wonder what Lazar says to him about that. Lazar has basically played his whole career out of position, and he's done pretty well for himself. Maybe he never had the NBA ambitions that Maymon has...you know those ambitions that lead one to be more selfish than a team sport requires.

how about "Grow up"

No that would be too harsh for a 19 year old college athlete to hear.

You're right, but it's different to hear it from a teammate who has intimate details of the program and situation rather than some blowhard(s) on the internet who doesn't know any details.

Wrong. It should be, "Grow the F up!"

It should be a Barny Stinson bitch slap to the face with nothing said.

wrong again. it should be:

"Are you quitting on me? Well, are you? Then quit, you slimy *****walrus-looking piece of ***! Get the ****off of my obstacle! Get the ***down off of my obstacle! NOW! MOVE IT! Or I'm going to rip your *** off, so you cannot contaminate the rest of the world! I will motivate you, Private Pyle, IF IT SHORT-*****EVERY CANNIBAL ON THE CONGO!"

I look at a guy like Hayward and I admire the intensity, the energy, and the skill he brings to battle. But most of all, I see a guy who is a leader and the consummate team player. If Maymon is initiating this situation because of  "me, me, me" gripes then I would compare his behavior with Hayward's. Some people here want to sugar coat this but if you distill down Maymon's complaint it has nothing to do with the team and everything to do about him. Too many people here want to give him a free pass because, what, we might hurt his feelings? All I suggest is we think about what he is doing to his team and why. It is ugly. It is very ugly. I have no use for mavericks. Why should his teammates and the community that supports it?

Classic scene from a classic movie. Gotta love R. Lee Ermey, GMSgt USMC

I wasn't the biggest fan of the games of our four departing seniors, but nobody could deny they were all leaders. Lazar looks to me to have some of those same qualities but he's kind of outnumbered this year. We've got so many new guys and only the one senior (and Butler) to help them along and crack their skulls when needed.

The size of our senior class last year alone was very beneficial...and of course, they were all starters. I just hope the Maymon situation isn't a cancer for the rest of the team. It could be it was becoming one and Buzz had to cut it before it became terminal!

Lazar averaged 6.6 ppg and 3.6 rpg as a freshman.  And it took a decent amount of improvement over the course of the season to even finish with those numbers.  I sure am glad he didn't quit after nine games.

There is one indisupatable fact amongst all of this.  That being that Maymon quit on his teamates and Marquette.  Marquette doesn't need people like that we can and will win without him.

Never would have happened. Lazar Hayward has too much character, dignity and pride for that to happen. Pride in himself but more importantly, pride in his comrades, pride in his team, pride in his university. He is a leader and it shows. Leadership is about doing.

Yeah, except that's not "indisputable" as no one (here) knows anything about what really happened.

Lazar really should not say anything to Jeronne.

As the leader of the team it his job to make sure the other guys still wearing Blue and Gold are focused and are ready to play TEAM basketball against North Florida. There is no use in crying over spilt milk, just keep getting the guys ready for BEAST.

Actually, he did quit so yes it is indisputable.

Yes, but nobody knows how it played out and the reasons for it.

IMO JM's actions would be somewhat understantable, if, as has been reported, he was promised major mpg at the #2, 3, 4 positions and that PT is not forthcoming----I don't think Lazar was promised anything in regard to mpg or position.

IMO regardless I think there is a better than 50-50 chance he comes back and plays out the season and then transfers if things haven't reverted back to his expectations.

I really don't see any major PT for JM at MU at the #2 & #3 positions in the years to come either.

You have a unique perspective from the rest of us, given that you played for MU, have coached, and have an intimate knowledge of some key people in the history of the MU program. In other strings, people are suggesting Buzz may have mismanaged this matter (given what little we know of the actual dynamics.) What are your thoughts on promises to recruits and how would coaches like Tex Winter, Eddie Hickey, Al or Hank managed a chracter like Tim Maymon?

And you know this how?  You know, for a fact, that the coaching staff didn't boot him off the team for academic or personal transgressions?

Could you provide us with a link to the publication where you got this fact?  Thanks, that'd be great.

Guy Fieri's Dad

Because when that happens most universities say they kicked the kid off the team.  Because there is usually bad news coming regarding academics or personal conduct.  The fact that none of that came out means he quit the team.  Oh and the press release that he quit the team from last night.  Until we here different the fact is he quit the team.  If info to contradict that come out later then that changes things.  However, I in no way was trying to argue as to why he quit.  I have no clue on that issue.
