I drive up from Chicago for the games and am usually cutting it so close that dinner possibilities are limited to Turners, Bradleys or the Bradley Center itself. I'm coming up early today so I'll have time to enjoy a "real" dinner. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Sobelman's, Great place to go before the game...best burgers in milwaukee..

LastWarrior

What kind of food and how much are you looking to spend?

5 o'clock steak house at 27th and North is pretty entertaining prior to a game.  Kind of an old school steak house and the steak is pretty good for a decent price.

For steak?

Carnevore is, imo, great.

For any meat?

Sabor is always good too. Their parmesan pork is kick ass.

5 O'Clock Steak house or Butch's Old Casino Steak House are the best around.

Coerper's 5 o'clock Steak House is fantastic if you want steaks, however it is at 24th and State not 27th and North.

Closer to the BC, try Molly Cool's (seafood) or Maders (German).

The King and I also is well within walking distance (3-4 blocks) and has great Thai food if you like that.

Muhoops85

Try Motor at the Harley Davidson Museum.

You're right... not sure what caused that brain fart?!

Seafood at Molly Cool's is good...especially if you like a raw bar.  You can still catch a peak at a number of different TV's if you're a college fb fan.  They have a parking deal as well...

My favorite restaurant is Dream Dance in the casino of all places. Their menu and wine list is liking nothing else in Milwaukee.  As weird as it may sound, their kangaroo tenderloin is amazing as is the 40 oz. porterhouse for two.

Great Italian at Louises on Wells and Jefferson.  I second Sobelmans as well.  That place is fantastic.

ill second louises, place is amazingly good

Carnevore is solid very solid, but pricey. It's the "hip" steak place unlike the Coerpers, which is also good, but has the feel of your uncle's basement. I've also heard good things about Dream Dance since they switched over to a steak house. Like Avid says, their wine list is unmatched -- they pretty much sell all of their wine at retail. It really ticks off all of the other restaurants because there wine is easily half the price of others and way bigger, but they are more than happy to "lose" money on it to get people into the casino.

4everwarriors' list is solid -- Umami Moto would be my choice - the beef short ribs over sweet potato grits is awesome.

Not impressed with Molly Cool's other than its location and raw bar. Sobelman's (way casual) and Elsa (more upscale) have the best burgers.

My vote for the best food without the attitude downtown would be Roots, www.rootsmilwaukee.com. They offer high-end preparations in a casual atmosphere. Plus, it's close to the BC without being right in the middle of the action.  I had the veal short ribs last Saturday and it was one of the best dishes I've had in a while. Roots reminds me of Blackbird in Chicago. Many good suggestions here.

I'll second .. if you're not eating around the BC .. try the restaurant at the Harley Museum.  It's maybe 5 minutes from the BC.  Very cool design, decent food, atmosphere.  It's not inside the museum, it's the bldg next to it.

OpenLook

All the suggestions mentioned are good, I also like Cubanitas on Milwaukee St., about eight blocks east of the BC. Website: http://getcubanitas.com/

Coquette Cafe. Great atmosphere. Good to great food at reasonable prices. French but not too French. Not stuffy. More upscale casual.  In The 3rd Ward.

shiloh26

I'd second Sobleman's if you want a pub atmosphere and a fantastic burger.  It gets real busy though.  Elsa's is fun, they have specialty burgers in a more of an upscale restaurant type atmosphere.

You could always hit up Real Chili!

NYWarrior

La Merenda ... good food and loads of fun.  It is owned by MU grad Pete Sandroni, who is also the chef.
