Six overtimes in the Garden
« on: July 18, 2009, 12:42:03 AM »
Never saw this before: a Web site dedicated to the outcome of one game:

www.sixovertimes.com

Stuff like this, by the way, is the reason to go to this tournament. Out here in Big 12 Land, I'm proud to tell anybody who will listen that the Big East plays the best basketball anywhere. The atmosphere for our entire tournament is electric. The camaradarie of our conference is incredible. If I had a beer for everybody who said "great game" to me after our loss, I'd still be hung over.

Oh, and, hey: It's New York.

Go to the Big East Tournament next year. You will not be disappointed.

That is a pretty sweet website, especially the intro.  I usually skip over the intros to websites but no this one.

I remember that game. got home late and turned it on to catch what I thought would be the end. I had to work at 7 the next morning but figured I could watch the end of regulation and a overtime.  Then once I got watching I didn't want to miss the end.  The only way this game could have been better is if the overtimes kept coming because of made shots at the end of the previous one instead of missed shots.

The only bad part was the Syracuse fans got even cockier at the bar and on the street.

Not as bad as Pitt fans though.......

+1

The downside to the Big East Tournament is that some fans bring every ounce of junior high arrogance they ever had, multiplied by "New York."

I've never quite figured out how or why Pitt does so well, both on the court and in the seats, at this event. Still, it's about the best basketball you'll experience. Truly, I'd rather go to this tournament than virtually any NCAA tournament session. Dollar for dollar, you're getting much better basketball, especially when you have a six-overtime match like this.

Plus, you just never know. Hoosiers-like, DePaul won one confererence game last season. At this tournament.
