Great Game...Great Movie...What's on the back of their warmups?
« on: January 28, 2007, 04:00:00 PM »
Great game. Glad to read the suspense and the BIG V! But I missed the game because...

of a great movie: Pan's Labyrinth. Enjoyed it thoroughly (probably as much as the MU game!). One of the best movies of the year. But back to bball...

I was reading ESPN and ran across this picture:

I tried to deciper the numbers...I was thinking that it had to do with MU's history (as they are an "Elite" team). The numbers are: 85, 22 or 23, 16, 03, 04.

Anyone have any insights?!?

The numbers are actually 04, 08, 16, 32, 64. They just started selling the official warm-ups in the spirit shop and I saw that on the back. Besides the numbers doubling from bottom to top, does anyone know if there is any significance?

I think it's a number for each round of the NCAA tourney.

that is correct.  we are a nike elite program, which means we have made the ncaa final four in the last 10 years, and we get special equipment not available to other programs.  the backs of the warm-ups used to say "nike elite" where the numbers are now...

thanks!!!

And what do they have at the Spirit Shop that aren't on-line?!? That really irks me as I'm on the West Coast and the only way to get the TEAM ELITE is through any contact in Milwaukee.

If you can't tell the significance of these numbers at first sight, perhaps it's time to go back to NCAA College Basketball 101.   Cmon now, we are better than that.

I'll admit that my first reaction when I read Desert_Eagle's post was, "he's got to be kidding, right?"
