First game expectations vs. reality
« on: November 06, 2006, 02:11:12 PM »
I am curious as to how the team rates against our expectations over the course of the season.  I'll probably post this poll a few times through the season and compare/contrast later.

Feel free to comment on your choices.  This is slightly different from post-game discussions in that those focused on what we need to do better/what we did well.  I am interested in finding out from you what you think we should have been better at already or what you were surprised we were good at already.

not many questions answered, except, perhaps, the potential plan for Trend.

guards showed that they are in fact the dominant ones in the MUhoops family.

lott, burke, ooze, down low guys still worry me.
if they couldn't dominate last eve, how can very much be expected in the BE against the much more talented teams there?

frankly I expect much more from lott...
kinsella has to find his niche...
fitz has to shine as the mulitool of this group.

watched the game via the CSTV feed (very cool, by the way), and while i can't say i paid particularly close attention, i wasn't particularly impressed. granted, i know nothing about Stritch, and this was our first actual game, but i guess i was just expecting more from our guys, particularly in perimeter shooting and on D. 70pts to an NAIA (i think... correct me if i'm wrong) team? that better tighten up come regular season...

then again, this could all be a by product of the high expectations for this team.

gonna be one hell of a season. very excited!

Well, by looking at play....I say worse than expected.  But only slightly...as I realize there were a bunch of substitutions, and guys aren't all used to working together yet.

But, they did beat Stritch pretty handily by the end...so from that aspect...about as expected.

I think expectation are a little inflated given the team is lead by three sophmores.  If you had a senior laden team then I would agree that they should be executing better.  However, last year they did not start playing well until the end of December.  I think this year they will have a similar issue (let's hope it is shorter than last year).

Overall, my expectations are currently being met.
