........NOW, ITS TIME TO BRING DOWN THE HOUSE ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND MAKE THE BRADLEY CENTER UNBEARABLE FOR SHU.

With MU riding high right now, a letdown might be human nature.   That's where the Big East's best 6th man must come up huge.......anyway, bring it on Wednesday night!

Here, here.  With the possible exception of Pitt, we should win out at home.  Especially if our students give us the support they're capable of.

marquette09

After the HUGE win sunday im expecting the BC to be rockin' tomorrow night

mu_hilltopper

Students disappointed .. the lower bowl was full, but that's just "average" now .. upper deck was maybe 5-10% full.    First BE game with students back, big 4 game winning streak, Top 15 team .. that upper deck should be over 50% full.

MUFanInGreenBay

Pitt will no doubt be a tough game at home come March. However, don't look past Villanova. They're playing very well just like we have been. They have a good PG in Scottie Reynolds, good SG in Mike Nardi, and lots of very atheltic bigs to throw at you. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they beat us at the BC. I'm telling ya'll Villanova is goona be a hard game.

As a student, I was also dissappointed with the turnout.  I was able to convince my roommate to come with me by telling him that the guys deserved a great crowd tonight for their recent play of late, but apparently not too many others felt that way.

I don't get it.  This was the first BE game students had tickets for, correct?  The team comes home after a hugely successful road trip on the road and students arriving 10 minutes before tip could have been standing in the 200's.

A select few get a pass for evening class and kudos to those in attendance, but I'm disappointed in the rest.  The semester is a only a week and a half old - nobody had to stay home to study.

Time to step up in support of the team for EVERY remaining home game, not just those on weekends!

The only difference between weeknight and weekend games should be the level of intoxication (for those old enough to drink, of course).  ;)

Oldgym

ONeills:  True dat.

CWSKeith:  Good on you.  Keep it up, because for all the talk on the other thread of unifying colors and rally rags or whatever, home court advantage begins and ends with the noise and the students take the lead on that.

O to be 21 and be at school with a team this good.

spartan3186

Even those with night class should not really be excused. I for one was unable to go to the game for that very reason, however I gave my ticket to a friend who didnt have a fanatics ticket so my ticket would not go to waste. There are always people looking for tickets so even if you are not going the least you could do is give your ticket to someone else.

What do you except? Marquette is the place where students never stop studying!

It hurts to type that.

ow...my knuckles...the student body shows for something big, and that's it. But they are slowly getting better.

sadly last night that was true...I know at least 8 or so people that didn't go because of homework/quizzes today, and also a few because of meetings(not a good enough excuse for me even if they are RA's) So if even a 1/4 of the students were there knew a person or 2 that were in that situation there goes a lot of fans. I think the next time we see a game during the week the turnout will be better, I think some forgot to plan for the fact that there was a game last night.  Good thing there are only 2 more games during a weekday left.

Students had tickets to all games during break, including Syracuse and West Virginia.  This was the first game they were back from break however, and the student section was actually smaller than the two games during break.  Come on guys, basketball games take priority over school  ;D

Warrior1969

I have not seen one single valid excuse yet.  The students are pathetic.  They come for the big games, thats it, period.

Does  anyone know how many students the BC can actually hold if it's filled to capacity and contrast that with the number that actually showed up to the game?

marquette09

I was also extremely disappointed in the turnout.  As I posted Tuesday night I thought there would be a lot of students there after the recent success of the team.........guess not.   Like some of the posters i know some people that have quizzez today that "couldn't come" but you can still go to the game and study and prepare for the quiz/test...its called time management.

The the Bradley Center basketball capacity is listed at 18,717.  The box score from last night's game listed attendance at 15,506.

State

I know the BC is only down the street but I have a feeling the thought of getting on a bus then waiting outside in the cold for that bus post game is a deterrent for students/casual fans (very weak, IMO).

Do you think if the AL was built to hold 18K there would be a larger student turnout??

Also, do you think the students have created their own monster?? Ex. Word spreads quickly of students camping out...therefore, they have to get there earlier and earlier to get a good seat and then pretty soon the casual fan says the hell with going because they can't 'waste' that much time to sit in line while ultimately ending up in the nosebleeds.

I never had to sit up stairs as a student by now my season tickets are in the upper deck near the student section.  It is a completely different atmosphere...which I wouldn't wait in the freezing cold for 4 hours for.  (well...yes I would but most wouldn't)

So, yes it is nice to fill up the upper deck for visual reasons but the loud/active students are already at the games making the difference.

The cute girl from Western Civ. didn't come to MU to spend 5 hours on a Tuesday devoted to MU hoops.  She has a part time job, 18 credits, two boyfriends (one back at home and one in East Hall), three myspace accounts, an addiction to chai tea lattes, and a love of the ice cream machines...

Continue to beat this drum if you'd like...but the reality is--not everyone enjoys the game as much as we do.

mu_hilltopper

When you're right, you're right.  There's a certain level of intensity that you need to get into the lower bowl.  Watching a game from upstairs is a very different show.

Maybe they need to give out free beer in the upper deck.

Now there's something I think we can all agree on.

and give it out in the line outside... keep the students warm.. plus by the time gametime comes around, they'll be loud and rowdy!

I wouldn't go that far.  MU's student section is much better than when I was in school.  The DePaul student section is pathetic.  Marquette's is generally strong, and for big games it's excellent.

The quiz excuse is bs.  You could be back in your dorm by 9:30.  Study then.  Even the ones that come are terrible.  What do they do....nothing?  Do they cheer anything?  Chant anything?  Have any creative signs?  no, no and no!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there was a "Put in Kinsella" sign last night.
