I think it is a break. It is actually a road game, so a loss to St. John's in my opinion should be less damaging than a loss to Georgetown on a neutral court. Also, St. John's is not a threat to take our place in the NCAA tournament. That was a potential problem if we lost badly to Georgetown. Given that St. John's does not have much of a bench and the starters played significant minutes today MU's depth should not be a problem in this game. MU a senior dominate team and should not suffer from opening round jitters. We need to jump on them right out of the gate.

There's no reason we should not win this game. If we cannot beat St. John's playing its second game in 24 hours, then I fear there are very few teams we would be able to beat in the first round of the tourney.

I would agree. If we lose tomorrow, there isn't much reason to care about seed or anything else that happens from there.

I think he's thinking ahead to the Championship game... ;)

Not that you shouldn't be confident but I'm really surprised at your over confidence coming into this game especially without James.

I think St. John's gives a much better showing then they did in Marquette and who knows what Marquette does because its not like they need this game to get into the tourney more for seeding.

No such thing as a trap game when you've lost 4 in a row.  Like I said yesterday...they should win, but it's not like they've burned it up in the post season.

I don't think any of us are taking SJU lightly, especially in light of DJ's injury and the 4-game losing streak (regardless of opponents). That said, I think the confidence you see is due to the fact that many of us see SJU as a more-favorable matchup than Georgetown.

If you've been around this board lately (and I'm sure you probably haven't been), you'd see that over confidence is the last thing you'd find here.

Here's to a great game. Go Marquette!

Why is Wes Matthews always falling down....is he really that clumsy cuz he's always tripping over people's feet.....

Awesome job with out JMac and now we have to keep running away from them

Also love that we are not settling for outside shots today and trying to drive the lane

This one is going according to (my) plan so far. In addition to getting the win, my hope was that Mu would play well, have fun, and get a little mojo back. I don't care who the opponents were, the loss of DJ and 4 losses have got to be playing with their heads a little bit. A win could go a long way.

fair enough. I don't lurk here enough to grasp a complete tone. I was just going by the thread. I was sure proved wrong though we forgot there was a game today. We got outhustled and outplayed from the tip. Kudos to you.

Question for you - on the broadcast they kept repeating that Roberts was doing a good job rebuilding.  I know you're missing your best player at this point, but is his job really that safe?  By just looking at his record from 2004 I'm not seeing much improvement.  Yes - the conference has probably improved in that time period too, but I was surprised by the level of confidence they were showing towards him during the broadcast.
