BE favorites?
« on: January 21, 2007, 05:05:19 PM »
With Pitt owing us a return trip along with a couple other very tough road games, its gotta be MU at the moment doesn't it? Half of our road games are behind us, and we are sitting in a virtual tie with Pittsburgh. I suppose you could still make a case for ND (schedule) and perhaps Georgetown. Avoid teh traps in this thing and we have a great shot. Seton Hall's next. Just win that one.

if syracuse loses a game then we control our own destiny to the BE regular season title.

otherwise we could tie with syracuse and they'd be the rightful winners based on head-to-head.

Uh....I'm happy we won.  Really Happy.  And yes, we're near the top of the league right now.

But slow down.   Lots of season left.

Of course there is, but a few hours ago, it was almost universally accepted that the BE totles should be handed over to Pittsburgh. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'. If you had to pick the eventual BE winner right now, based on current records and remaining schedules (Pitt has 6 road games left!!!), I think I'd have to take MU.  Right now, we're better than Pitt.

This is wrong. If we finish the season tied with Syracuse, we share the title with them.

Syracuse would get the #1 seed in the conference tournament, but we would still hang a Big East Championship banner.

I agree with Rocky.

As much of a homer as I think I am, we lose at least two, but I'd even bet four more games.  I won't say to who though.  I had us 3-3 to open up the big east, except the wins-loses were completely reversed.

Hey SocalWarrior, didn't we just have this conversation about an hour ago?  It was good hanging out and watching the game with you.  Now if MU can keep playing like they have for the past two weeks .... look out.

not wrong.. notice the words "rightful winners".. in my book if we're tied with someone and they beat us every game we played them then they are the true winners.

agreed on lots of season left as well.. just like the thought of controlling our own destiny for all championships.  nobody really getting ahead of themselves by saying that.

not sure I can picture us losing four games at the rate we're playing..  2 maybe.. could be the homer speaking though.
