This is the perfect game to let the seniors figure things out.

Ellenson Guerrero

Exactly, perfect time to practice playing against momentum.

Looks like De Paul came to play tonight...Hopefully we can do what we do best and make the proper adjustments at halftime and put them away.

MUsoxfan

They'd better figure it out.   That's the worst half of Marquette Basketball I've seen all year.   Just awful

Really? Dayton?

mugoose

the no to was awful. ef that. call it and slow their momentum down.

no to.....what a joke.

Ellenson Guerrero

Ya come on, you can't say that was the worst half. We flat out dominated for the first ten minutes. Then Will Walker caught on fire. I was disappointed that we didn't adjust better but thats why we need a game like this, it doesn't help us to run away from DePaul.

I believe so.  Tons of missed FT's...wild 3's with hands in their face....throwing the ball away in transition....missed assignments on D.  They need to slow things down 1/2 step and not be so greedy with shot selection

jtsanto

I am fine with it...as long as he tore them a new one at the half for playing like they were on the playground. Last I checked Depaul was still in the Big East. That being said they better play a better second half or they are in trouble. They do this against UCONN the game is over.....

TVDirector

we got cocky and sloppy.
then stopped playing D.

Depaul is doing it with bench guys for the most part.

MU had better wake up....

That's why I like the no TO call in this game.  Lots of lessons.  With no Tucker, Buzz could micro manage this game and win by 20, but it wouldn't be remembered.  With three seniors, this type of game is needed.  Put it in the player's hands and teach them a lesson.

TVDirector

add: awful FT shooting.

ft included.

esotericmindguy

reminds me of the first depaul game, only they didn't stop playing D until the second half.  DePaul is so bad that MU gets way to loose.

Ellenson Guerrero

Its important to learn how to manage opponents runs and play against momentum. Look at UNC earlier this year, they beat up on a bunch of lesser opponents winning something like ten games in a row by double digits. When they get to a real challenger they ended up losing two quick ones in the ACC.

I agree we aren't playing our best tonight but Buzz has to use this as a prep for close games down the road

still have to finish this game before looking down the road, tho'...
we're not playing well right now, and this IS the game that counts.

No only do I like the no TO, I like how Wainwright is using a Princeton-like offense against us.

Really gives the MU group a different look...in preparation for March.

I dont recognize a princeton offense?  Have you ever seen a Pete Carril coached team?
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

I reiterate....
dom, stop shooting.

1- 5 3pters, 2-6ft

distribute the ball, forget the 3 pointers for now.

15 points on mostly in close... that's his game.

Buzz' timeout calling, or lack there of, is my biggest complaint against him so far this year. ANd that's saying a lot about how well he's doing.

McNeal AGAIN draining a three to ice the game. Sixth game this year he's done it. Unreal.

Norm

Buzz never calls timeouts as a general rule, I don't think it had anything to do with teaching a lesson. It's the one flaw in his game as a coach - he does not use timeouts to blunt another teams momentum and/or make a point to his players. This will bite him in the butt sooner or later.

MR.HAYWARD

Bobby Knight rarely called first half time outs either with a senior backcourt.  Ralex those of you that are big timeout favorites he will call more than his share of 1st half timeouts next year.
