WadesWorld.. Great points.  I am in your boat as far as the Crean and Buzz and I hope your predictions hold true (except for the TN game... got a UT g/f and I want that game)

How soon they forget:

Marquette 66, Utah Valley State 55 (11/12/07)
Marquette 74, Chaminade 63 (11/19/07)
Marquette 59, Idaho State 56 (OT) (11/13/06)
North Dakota State 64, Marquette 60 (12/02/06)

How soon they forget, indeed:

Marquette 82, Sacramento State 51 (12/15/07)   +31
Marquette 77, Savannah State 37 (12/29/07)      +40
Marquette 95, Eastern Michigan 62 (11/18/06)     +33
Marquette 87, South Dakota State 52 (12/3/05)   +35

There are plenty of cupcakes that got their ass kicked by a Crean-coached team and plenty of cupcakes that didn't get their ass kicked by a Crean-coached team. The same will occur during Buzz' tenure.

I don't think fans are worried about numbers. They'll able to see beyond that. Some are worried about trends, habits, consistencies, etc. Elements that are easy to pick up on seven games into the season.

TC top 10, you're funny Stone Cold. I thought he was a good coach, but he was hardly top 10 in the Big East.  As I said, I was fine with TC while he was here, but I'm sick of hearing announcer speak of what he did for MU.  Al put MU on the map, and TC made MU about as much as MU made TC.

I thought TC was a fine coach, but top 10 is rediculous.  There were 6 to 8 coaches in the Big East better than him in my opinion....depending on how you want to define a "top coach."  I would have traded TC for Pitino, Calhoun, Boehiem, Huggins, Wright, Thompson or Dixon if I was stricly concerned with wins and losses.

+1...but i thought this was supposed to be about Pat Hazel.

Not a good sign that with nine players Buzz was so P-O'd  that he's bench one of them. I would not be surprised to see Hazel do nothing but pick splinters out of his butt once Fulce and Otule are walking.

In some parallel universe, there are complants about a coach who DIDN'T bench a player who really deserved it on the basis that he "had to play" because there were only eight other players available.

Credit Buzz for sticking with a disciplinary action despite the fact that he could have used Hazel last night.

This point would be a lot more credible if the same thing didn't happen every freakin' year.  I have seen the same gloom and doom predictions after a bad game early in the season for at least the last three years.

Maybe it's not the coaches who play down to the level of their competition but the players...specifically the 3 amigos.
