Ouch. MU/UW ticket limit now 4
« on: October 08, 2008, 04:23:46 PM »
Ouch.  As I'd written here:   http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=10032.0   .. the Season Ticket holder single-game purchases just got a little more worthless.

Got the single-seat plan in the mail today.

Two years ago, STHs could purchase TEN tickets for the MU/UW game.

This year?  FOUR.  Wow.  I knew it would be fewer than 10, but 4?   The decrease is because of two items: More Season Ticket Holders .. and more 5-pack purchasers.

.. I had spoken to Craig Pintens (AAD at MU) a month ago .. he'd mention the allotment would go down.  I had no idea he meant by less than half!  I emailed him today to explain the math, and just got a reply back that simply stated it needed to be 4 to allow all STHs to receive tickets .. that STH accounts have increased so much in 2 years, the drop from 10 to 4 was necessary.

One of the other reasons is the Gold 5-pack, that includes the UW game.  He said the 5-pack sales will surpass last year's record sales, but "the attendance data does not support people purchasing the mini-plan for the Wisconsin game only." -- All I can say is .. for $45, you can get a seat for the hottest ticket in the state, even if you junk the 4 BE games it comes with.  That's a steal at $45.

So .. for those of you who were relying on a friendly STH to get you a UW ticket.   Evaluate where you are in the food chain.  Before, you could be their 10th best friend and get in.   Now it's down to 4th best.

Just curious--after MU/UW, which game do you think is the "hottest," or in Brewers parlance, which would be the "Marquis" game?  I'm thinking either DePaul or Georgetown.  Both are Saturday games, with DePaul being more of a rivalry game, yet it'd be nice payback to see us beat Georgetown after 68-70 in OT last March 1.

I would say it would have to be Georgetown. I'd say Syracuse might even trump DePaul at this point.

DePaul is the premier game on the docket, it's just the biggest whoopdeedo of the year for anyone who followed the Warriors in the 70s and 80s.

For the 40 and under set, Georgetown is big .. Syracuse's game (senior night) is also selling well (I was told.)

Crying shame we don't have ND nor UL this year.

Another reason to buy both five packs instead of season tix.

Certainly, if you are an upper-deck season ticket holder, give those up.  Just buy the two 5-packs, and presto, you've got 10 of the best games of the year.  If you REALLY want to go to the Presbyterian College game as well, I'm sure you could buy a ticket, cheap.

As a STH, it doesn't bother me much. maybe this season we won't have 10,000 Badger fans in the BC.

Money talks.  You're not keeping UW fans out of there.  They'll get in.  If TC and his completely psycotic ways (Joanie once yelled at an MU prof who brought a visiting prof from Sacramento State to a game b/c the Sac St prof wore a Sac St sweatshirt...I kid you not) couldn't keep red out, nothing will.

The ugly truth is MU probably has 400-500 STHs who are UW alums but Milwaukee professionals (and perhaps MU Law Grads)who like MU, realize the networking benefits, go the games and cheer hard but once a year revert back to their rodent ways.

Personally, as someone who's missed 2 @ UW games since 1993, I don't mind a little Red, it makes it more fun to be able to taunt them as we leave the game victorius.
