Thinking more about how Crean left, I'm reminded of two distinct parallels:

Nick Saban, who had his assistant coaches talking to the Dolphins pro personnel department while still employed by LSU the week before their bowl game in 2004.

Unfortunately, TC has far better PR than these jerks ever had and will be able to get away with pulling this crap in perpetuity.  I can't forsee any national columnists calling Crean a "liar" a la Pat Forde to Nick Saban anytime soon.
