WSSP radio.

Most positive thing he said was that it was 'an interesting' hire.
There's logic behind continuity- keeping the recruits and stabilizing the current team situation.

But he also pointed out Buzz's lack of knowledge of the Big East, MU basketball, midwest recruiting, etc. and how that is a big question mark.

Regarding recruiting in Texas, where he is said to be strong, he'll be playing second fiddle plus to the big guys down there, especially Texas.

Not especially a ringing endorsement..
he didn't say, GREAT HIRE or MU will be fine or this is a good move for the short and long term.
Mike seemed a bit tepid at best.

just my read and fwiw.

Don't know how I happened to hear it as I never listen to that station, but had it on this AM, and I took it the same way you did. H ecould not have been more underwhelmed. He sounded liek many around here - just don't know what to make of it.

Ummm, after a year aT mu, he now has more knowledge of the BEast than 330 other Div I head coaches.  Not a valid point.

I think his comments are fair.  However, after reviewing his entire coverage of this situation I'm not sure I think DeCourcey is overly connected to this situation.  He is a fine journalist and a decent reporter, but I don't think that he's provided a lot of unique perspectives.

Amen... this dude has been way off on all of his coverage of the MU coaching search.
