Question - how does ESPN get away with a headline on their college basketball page that says "Tarred and Feathered" referring to KU's defeat of the Tarheels, but a few weeks ago Golf Magazine (I think) was chastised for saying other pro golfers felt like "lynching" Tiger Woods because he was too good - or something along those lines?

MUSF

I'm guessing there are not a lot of Torys left alive that are still feeling the emotional pain of having loved ones tarred and feathered. I think they all moved back to jolly ole England.

Seriously, the two aren't even remotely the same.

Markusquette

Probably because it's not really insulting, and kind of creative.  It's not like anybody was unaware what really tarring and feathering was, but it's not as bad since it just relates to a basketball game.  Clearly it is not that bad or else it wouldn't have been the headline.

Daniel

MUSF - you got me literally laughing out loud with your Tory comment LOL - thanks :)

Maybe getting "tarred and feathered" was not associated with race!

What I'm more upset about with ESPN is their complete lack of coverage of the Marquette women's WNIT championship win.  I know it's nothing to throw up on the front page, I mean it is women's basketball and it is the WNIT.  But when there is no mention of it even on the Womens BBall front page, that's pretty crappy

Yeah, I noticed that too.  They had the final score listed for awhile on the front page but never even put a link to the game summary under the 'headlines' section.  ESPN.com sucks anyway.
