Question

Who do you think is the most likely candidate to be Marquette's head coach?

but more importantly...

How much money would you put on it if you wanted?  (ie - how confident are you?)

Now, I'm not trying to start any actual wagering or anything, but I do think that the responses could be enlightening.  Multiple candidates are options.  Think of it like a mock-marketplace.
====

$20 - Sean Miller.
$5 - Anthony Grant.
$5 - Brad Brownell

What's the line on Bennett?
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Dish

I don't know why, but I think the darkhouse candidate is Fran McCaffery. I'd put a sawbuck on it.

MU Chi_IL

Sug - I like where you are taking us here...I hope everyone realizes it took sugar two days in his Stats Cave and 397 spreadsheets to come up with:

Quote$20 - Sean Miller.
$5 - Anthony Grant.
$5 - Bill Brownell

$50 - Sean Miller (I think this is the guy, sad it comes at another Jesuits schools expense).
$5 - Bennett (The guy may be legit in wanting to stay, but money talks)
$5 - Anthony Grant.
$3 - Weber
$10 - on the field (is that allowed in this game)

NYWarrior

I don't want Miller...he's a Pitt guy, and Dixon is not long for Pitt; he flirts with the PAC-10 every spiring.

$20 on Kevin Stallings.

MU will get an established coach this time around. Stallings wanted out a few yrs ago to get to Ohio State, he was hugely successful at Ill State -- and now Vandy despite being the long private school in the SEC.  Time to move up, KS.

$15 Kruger
$10 Brownell
$5 Lowery

1990Warrior

The issue that I have with Stallings is that the reason Vandy was upset in the tourney was they were not very good defensively.  I definitely want a good defensive coach.

nyg

$50 on Anthony Grant
$20 on Bennett
$10 on Miller

RJax55

Brownwell - $50 (I think he will emerge as the favorite. May gotten the IU job if Crean had passed)

Weber - $25 (I think MU will approach him and Bruce will listen)

Grant - $15 (Upcoming young coach, but lacks Midwest recruiting ties)

Field - $10 (MUDish - Fran McCaffery is an interesting choice, however a little too Mike Deaneish for my taste.)

Dish

#8
Definitely McCaffery/Deane comparisons (Siena being the obvious link there).

Obviously not the biggest of name recognitions, but I think MU might give him a long look.

mu_eyeballs

I am upset that Mr. Stats cann't give me odds...I need odds in order to make the betting a little more fun...

Give me $25 on Kruger if he is better than 25-1 (bet big to win big)
Give me $10 on Miller at 3-1
Give me $10 on Grant at 5-1

Ready2Fly

Why is nobody mentioning Scott Drew?  He's in my top 3 for sure.

CAINMUTINY

Travis Ford of Umass......@1.7 a year; MU needs to realize that the OSU job will raise the bar for payday standards at 3.5-4.0 a year

Dish

Travis Ford at $1.7 million? Seriously? He'd be making more than Bill Self and Roy Williams!

OSU is a very unique job. Despite the reports they aren't interested, Self or Gillispie would be crazy not to hear them out. There are not many schools that are going to be paying $3.5-$4 million for a basketball coach on an annual basis.

CAINMUTINY

Marquette needs to pay out money like that to get top notch talent to leave an otherwise decent or even better program. Whether that is Travis Ford or whomever MU needs to shell out some big money to salvage this program and to otherwise hire someone who wouldn't come to marquette unless they received such an offer, remember we were paying crean 1.6 base w/o factoring any bonus's derived from NCAA's, etc.  Its time to up the ante!

Big Papi

Unfortunately I don't think we have a chance at Miller.  I also don't think we have a chance at Bennett but I would rather not have him anyways so I am happy.

Groce          $25
Brownwell    $10
Kruger         $5
Grant          $2

I think this is our short list unless some big time coach makes a play for the job like a Few, Hewitt or Tubby which I don't see happening.

Since Larry Brown is bored I will toss $15 on him, I don't mind throwing money around this here Internet!

Me either. I'll take Pat Summitt for $25!

Henry Sugar

I'm selling my $20 on Miller and my $5 on Grant.

Now $20 on Brownell and $10 on Buzz

I wish protrade.com would put coaches in their database.

Marquette's current stock price on there is $112.96. It's held steady since Crean left.

MU Chi_IL

I am selling all my positions and putting it on Drew.

Quote
$50 - Sean Miller
$5 - Bennett
$5 - Anthony Grant.
$3 - Weber
$10 - on the field
$15 - Larry Brown

With of course a $1 on Kareem Abdul Jabbar, because it makes my laugh!

Mike the Red

$10 Dane Fife
$10 Stallings
$8   Jamie Dixon
$6   Ford
$5   Grant
$3   Brownwell
