Crean leaving i can handle, coachs come and go.  But what I really dont like is the disrespect you hear in the media when they refer to Marquette.  Alot of, 'its about time Crean is it a major program', 'Why would he stay at Marquette?' etc.

Media coverage to me so biased toward those 'top ten' programs that everyone else just gets lumped into the dirt pile of 'also rans'.

Anyone with me?

The way Marquette ran their program for about 20+ years, it was mid major.  That stigma was earned.

Agreed, sadly. Unless we get another Final Four run or win consistently in March, we'll be stigmatized...fairly or unfairly.

That's why this hire is so important - it's the most visible chance we're going to have to act like something other than a mid-major.  Building practice facilities is great, but it doesn't really get covered outside of Milwaukee.

Go out and make a big splash.  Spend big money.  Get a great coach.

Daniel

yep - you have to earn respect int he NCAA and consistent winning, NCAA appearances and runs and rankings get it done.

Agreed. DiUlio tanked the program and it has been a long way back. That is why this is such a bitch. We were really getting it going and next year may well have been something assuming everyone came back. To start over is exhausting, especially in BE.
