Just heard DeCourcy (sp?)on my way into work this morning. Said, he was very surprised that Crean took the IU job since he basically didn't show any interest after Mike Davis was fired. Also said that the Kentucky job was the job that Crean really wanted and thought the Kentucky job would be better a better fit than Indiana.

Many on the board will love this. DeCourcy called Crean a "politician" who is able to connect with everyone and make everyone from a fan in the 28th row, to a big time booster feel important.

What amazes me is none of the media reports talk about Crean's coaching. Everything is about how he built up Marquette's program. I think in Bloomington, he might get exposed. The program is already built down there, all they want to do is win. If he doesn't deliver, he will be gone quickly.

With Bill Self and Billy Gillespie being persued hard by Oklahoma State (who, according to PTI has the insanely rich guy willing to offer upwards of $3-4 mil per year) you have got to wonder that if one of those jobs opens up Crean may be feeling a little silly jumping at IU....

DeCourcy said that Kentucky in the end didn't want Crean. After Donovan, Gillespe was the guy.

Remember the embarassment of the MSU tourney game two years ago?  IU fans have to look forward to that twice a year!

Make that 4 times a year when you throw Bo Ryan into the equation.

T Boone Pickens is his name.  He's donated roughly $250 million over the years to Oklahoma State with over 90% of that being to the Athletic Dept.  That includes a $165 million donation about a year ago.

Like him or not, he probably has some say in who Okie State can and will hire.

Dry White Toast

T.Boone wants Bill Self.  End of List.  Quotes in the (lower) Midwest say Boone is prepared to make Self the highest paid man in his profession.

If Self decides not to follow Roy William's blueprint and ditch KU after losing in the Final Four, he'd explore other options.
