I used to defend Tom Crean and his contributions to the university but today I have lost all respect for him.

The opening line of his press conference at Indiana was almost identical to what he said about Marquette  except he changed the year 1977 to 1976.  Clearly blowing smoke up everyones ass.
EDIT:  What I had here wasn't the exact quote but very similar.

He decided not to tell the athletic department or the team.

Had he handled it differently, I'd wish him the best of luck as I can understand the allure of the Indiana job.  But with the way he handled things I'd just liek to say thanks for everything you did here but now you can go f*ck off!

LastWarrior

I'm with you.

WE ARE MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY, not Tom Crean U.

dude, that was not his opening statement.  Although it was rather similar, especially the first line...

ChicosBailBonds

I'm getting there.   ;D

I thank him wildly for the 9 years he gave us, it's shame he chose the way to go about this.  I don't begrudge him leaving for IU at all, but the way he did it is classless.  Doesn't take away the 9 years though either.

Time to move on, get a quality coach and don't skip a beat.  A HUGE HIRE.

That was a joke, TallTitan.  Crean didn't really say that at the Indiana press conference.  He was actually very complimentary of Marquette and said all the right things about how hard it was to leave, etc.

A better job came up and he took it.  You can't blame him, I suppose.  I do wonder what the point of that 10 year contract was.
Calvin:  I'm a genius.  But I'm a misunderstood genius.
Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

Thomas' Danish Delight

Exactly my feeling.  People were getting on me for hatin' on the guy, but they misunderstood me and thought I didn't appreciate what he'd done for the program.

Thanks for all that and what not, but seriously, this classless move is below the fecal matter of bunny rabbits.  Whatever, go and get your money at your "destination job" that's fine, but like I said, he should have given the AD some kind of heads up.

Yeah I realize that now but its still damn similar.

MUinOH

He probably meant to notify the AD in a more timely manner, he just had some extra clapping and pacing to do first.   ;D
